    • PURPOSE:To reduce the vibration and noise of an inverter capacity reduction motor by intermittently turning ON a self-extinguishing element near the time when the output current of an inverter becomes the maximum value. CONSTITUTION:A pulse train superposed on a gate signal turns ON a self- extinguishing element Su near the maximum current flowed to a self- extinguishing element Sx connected in series with a self-extinguishing element Su controlled by a gate signal. Thus, the saturated waveform is eliminated near the maximum value of positive and negative input currents to an AC machine 5, and approached to a sinusoidal wave to reduce the vibration and noise of an inverter capacity reduction motor.

    • PURPOSE: To restart an induction motor quickly and smoothly by a method wherein power is fed temporarily after power interruption and then power supply from a power converter to the induction motor is interrupted again before the induction motor is restarted depending on the frequency of residual voltage in the induction motor detected after power interruption. CONSTITUTION: Upon occurrence of instantaneous power interruption, a control circuit 14 interrupts the output from a drive circuit 15 to an inverter 2. r.p.m. of an induction motor 3 begins to decrease with a slight time lag behind occurrence of instantaneous power interruption and the residual voltage also begins to decrease. When the residual voltage is zero upon recovery from instantaneous power interruption, a re-excitation command circuit 10 and a command circuit 11 are operated to release interruption of output from the induction motor 3 which is thereby operated. Upon elapse of a predetermined time, the output is interrupted again. Upon further elapse of a predetermined time, the residual voltage is detected and when it is not zero, soft start is performed through a residual voltage detection circuit 6, a frequency detection circuit 7, a frequency setting circuit 8, and an output voltage soft start circuit 9 by squeezing the output voltage based on the frequency setting.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling alternating current motors wherein a speed command is quickly and smoothly given after the end of a momentary power failure until the speed becomes a speed set by a target speed command means. CONSTITUTION:If input to a voltage type inverter is interrupted and then power supply is restored during the regenerative operation of an alternating current motor 4, the rate of change in the output of an output gradually changing means is made higher than that when starting the motor from a standstill. The increased rate of the output change is continued until a target speed is approached. This apparatus consists of a power rectifier 1, a smoothing capacitor 3, a power inverter 2, a target speed command means and the output gradually changing means. The apparatus is also provided with a momentary power failure detecting means 7 that detects the occurrence of a momentary power failure in the input to the power rectifier. The output gradually changing means 8 is constituted as follows: If the momentary power failure detecting means generates a signal representing that recovery from a power failure has been completed during the regenerative operation of the alternating current motor, the ratio of change in the output of the output gradually changing means 8 is made higher than that when starting the alternating current motor at a standstill, and the ratio of change is kept increased until the speed increases nearly to a target speed.
