    • PURPOSE:To contrive the increase of volume of spent fuel and the improvement of transport efficiency of radioactive solid waste by providing a dismantling, disposal and storage facility of the spent fuel in a building. CONSTITUTION:A bellows 3 for absorbing the relative displacement at the time of an earthquake is set to form a transfer passage for a disposal and storage building 2 in the connected pat of a reactor building 1 and the building 2. The building 2 consists of a storage pool 2a, a volume-reduced and dismantled pit 2c, a cask storage, a drum can storage 2e and a trailer area 2f. In the pool 2a a fuel storage rack 2g, a radioactive solid waste storage rack 2h, a fuel dismantling facility 2i and a radioactive solid waste volume reducing facility 2j are placed. After spent fuel 1i taken out from a reactor is housed in the rack 2g in a fuel pool 1b to store during a specified period, it is housed in a fuel transfer basket 1f to transfer into a cell 1k. The basket 1f transferred into the cell 1k passes the transfer passage 1a provided in the pool 1b so as to vertically transfer to the lower floor of the reactor building.

    • PURPOSE:To manufacture a high-accuracy, high-reliability used fuel storage rack and to maximize its storage density by using a rectangular cylinder body having corner parts which have a radius of curvature equal and are as thick as other walls. CONSTITUTION:Rectangular cylinder bodies 1 have corner parts which have the radius of curvature so that the thickness is substantially equal to the thickness of other walls and are arrayed in a checkerboard shape so that the distance 1a between external wall surfaces is substantially equal to the distance 1l between interval wall surfaces. Joining members 2 at corner parts serve to position the rectangular cylinder bodies and suppress welding strain, and the bottom parts of their cuts are used as reverse reinforcing plates to enable welding of high quality without any back seal. Further, the thickness of the welding can be controlled by the depth of the cuts and the strength of weld zones is increased. Then the members 2 are fitted to corner parts and the spent fuel storage rack with sufficient storage density is obtained without narrowing down a spent fuel storage space formed of the external wall surfaces of the rectangular cylinder bodies 1.
