    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To releave a labor for the design of conductor coil ends and reduce a time necessary for the design, by a method wherein the length of a terminal which can envelope the outer circumference of the bundle of a plurality of conductors whose arrangement is determined by an arrangement determining means is obtained by using the diameters of the conductors and the thickness of the terminal. SOLUTION: When an input unit 11 of a design device 10 is operated, a condition input picture is displayed on a display. If various conditions are inputted, an arrangement determining means 13 determines the arrangement of a plurality of conductors 22 in accordance with various arrangement pattern stored in an arrangement pattern memory unit 12 and the inputted number of conductors 22. Then, a terminal length calculation unit 14 obtains the length L of a terminal 23 with solder which can envelope the outer circumference of the bundle of the plurality of conductors 22 whose arrangement is determined. Then, a coil end outer dimension calculation unit obtains the outer dimensions H and Y of a conductor coil end 21 in a non-joint state wherein the conductors are not soldered to a terminal main part 24. The terminal length L and the outer dimensions H and Y of the conductor coil end 21 are displayed with the cross-sectional view of the conductor coil end 21 in the non-joint state. With this constitution, the conductor coil end can be designed in a short time with little labor.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately judge the life of an electrode based on a clear picture of top end face of the electrode by spotwisely illuminating the face of object to be welded, being as the back ground of the welding electrode top end from vertical direction with an optical means from a specific direction. SOLUTION: Welding is executed by generating an arc between a welding electrode 4 and an object to be welded 1 with a welding machine 2, melting the object 1 with the heat of the arc and forming a welding bead 9. In the above GTA welding equipment, the electrode top end part is observed by a CCD camera 5 from the direction of 45 to 70 to the electrode 4, this picture is inputted to an image processor 8 and it is treated. In this treatment, for example, the electrode consumable amount and the welding metal amount are measured in comparison with the initial picture and the life of electrode 4 is judged. In this case, an illumination device 6 is arranged at the position mutually opposing to the CCD camera 5 about the electrode 4, the object 1 to be welded is illuminated spotwisely from the vertical direction. Therefore, the clear picture can be obtained, the life of electrode can be judged accurately and the electrode changing working can be automatized.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of manufacturing processes and enhance the strength of a terminal, by providing the terminal made by press-molding end parts of separate wires entwined with each other. SOLUTION: Multicore conductor wires 1 are cut to a specified length, and they are collected into a bundle. With one end part of the bundle fixed, the multicore conductor wires 1 are brought into a dumpling-like state of shape such that they are disorderly, irregularly, and unevenly entwined with each other by twisting them by a circumferentially rotating brush and an axially rotating brush. A dumpling-like portion thereof is pressed into a provisionally molded part by using a die. A molded part 5 of a specified shape, or a terminal, is obtained by applying a press to the provisionally molded part. The terminal thus obtained exhibits high fastening force or binding force between separate wires and has high strength because it is formed with the wires entwined with each other into an irregular and uneven state of shape. When it is connected to another conductor terminal, for example, by brazing, brazing filler metal wets the two and satisfactory bonding can be achieved, and in the event of screw connection, electrically stable characteristics can be obtained.
