    • PURPOSE:To provide a cryogenic cooling apparatus capable of thermodynamically effectually dealing with various operation modes with minimum expansion turbines by disposing an expansion turbine used by switching to a cooling stage and a precooling stage and employing a variable capacity type expansion turbine. CONSTITUTION:In a precooling stage I high pressure gas supplied from a line 8 is heat-exchanged with nitrogen supplied from a line 10 in a first heat exchanger 1. Part of shunted gas is expanded in a first expansion turbine 6 and is cooled in a fourth heat exchanger 4, and is thereafter expanded in a second expansion turbine 7 into a low pressure gas blow. Remaining part of the shunted gas is cooled in succession in third to fifth heat exchangers 3 to 5 into a high pressure gas fluid. In a cooling stage II, the high pressure gas fluid is cooled in a first heat exchanger 11 and is expanded in a first expansion turbine 14 and is further cooled in a second heat exchanger 12. Thereafter, the gas and the fluid are supplied to a consumer 20 via a second expansion turbine 15, a third heat exchanger 13, and an expansion valve 17.

    • PURPOSE:To improve safety in the high-speed rotation region by arranging a body of rotation a part of which is made of a magnetic material, and a control type electromagnet, and adjusting attractive force of the electromagnet in accordance with output of a revolution indicator. CONSTITUTION:A body of rotation consists of a rotary shaft 6 made of a magnetic material, a disc wheel 1, the rotor 3 for a driving motor, and a thrust collar 7, and gas bearing type journal bearings 2a, 2b and a thrust bearing 5 are arranged as bearings. Further, a control type electromagnet 8 is arranged at a position spaced a specified interval apart from the shaft end of the body of rotation, and a control circuit is composed of a rotating speed detecting sensor 9, a revolution indicator 10, etc. With increasing the rotating speed of the body of rotation, axial thrust is increased, and because the load on the thrust bearing 5 supporting the axial thrust is reduced, the magnetic bearing control circuit operates to increase attractive force of the electromagnet 8. The change in attractive force is caused by the change in current or voltage of an electric power unit 12 in accordance with the rotating speed detected by the revolution indicator-sensor 9. Safety in the high-speed rotation region can thus be increased.

    • PURPOSE:To obviate the use of an air blower dedicated to the combustion air and reduce the power consumption of a system by stepping up the power of an expansion turbine with the atmosphere in a booster provided at the the side of a brake and using the stepped up power for the combustion air. CONSTITUTION:Process gases such as the air are first introduced into an expansion turbine 1 and adiabatically expanded into gases of low pressure and temperature. In this case, generated power is consumed to increase the pressure of a hydraulic fluid for flowing through a booster 3 with the atmosphere via a rotating shaft 2. For the hydraulic fluid, the atmosphere is drawn through an intake filter 4. In addition, a part of the stepped up air is introduced into a combustion furnace as the combustion air 8 via a valve 5 and a flow control valve 7. Furthermore, the remnant of the stepped up air is discharged to the atmosphere via the pressure regulating valve 6 of the booster 3. According to the aforesaid construction, an air blower dedicated to the supply of the combustion air 8 can be eliminated and the power consumption of a system is thereby reduced.
