    • PURPOSE:To enable to locate a fault point with a high accuracy only depending on information available at self-terminals by calculating an impedance up to the fault point to determine the distance thereto with two points of voltages introduced to the self-terminals through the impedance. CONSTITUTION:When a trouble occurs at a point F, a voltage Va and a current Ia meets the formula I when observed at the localization point A. Then, a voltage V is measured to meet the formula II on the linear side through an impedance of a trnsformer of a power source G1. A reactance X1 at the fault point F is calculated by the formula III based on individual known vector impedances from these voltages Va and V to determine the distance to the fault point. Therefore, the locating of the fault point can be performed accurately only depending on the information available through a self-terminals.
