In the shell 1, thickness t1e in the radial direction at the both ends in the axial direction is smaller than thickness t1m in the radial direction at the middle in the axial direction. Therefore, rigidity in the radial direction at the both ends in the axial direction of the buffer means 10 is smaller than the rigidity in the radial direction at the middle in the axial direction.

CONSTITUTION:When projecting parts are provided on a movable blade impeller 1, the radius of curvature of the angle on the negative pressure face side of the projecting leading edge is set to be small, so that flow is always separated at the same position of the angle of a leading edge in a partial flow territory even if the blade fitting angle is changed. For example the leading edge of a blade 2 is provided with plate-like ribs 5 of less height than the maximum thickness of the blade instead of a solid projection as a projecting part. The rib 5 of one of several pieces are provided along the leading edge on optional positions of the leading edge part. Because the angle 5a of the rib is formed acute, it is suitable for the movable blade impeller 1 in particular. Hereby against an existing impeller having unstable part in the pump head-flow characteristic (Q-H characteristic), it is suitable for correction stabilizing the Q-H characteristic by additional working.

A control motor 6a is controlled by a controller based on a pressure signal from a pump delivery pressure detector 8 and a blade angle signal generated by a blade operation mechanism.

CONSTITUTION:The impeller vane 1 of a movable vane vertical shaft pump is fitted to an impeller hub 2, and the vane angle of the vane 1 is changed according to the operating state of the pump. An I-packing 3 is put between the sliding parts of the vane 1 and hub 2 so as to prevent the infiltration of seal water into the hub 2. Because of being expanded in the axial direction of the vane 1, the I-packing 3 is expanded even in the case of the sliding face of the vane 1 being corroded, so that sealing performance is not lowered. In the case of the corrosion of the impeller vane 1 being advanced, the corrosion part is removed by machining up to the position graduated previously on the vane 1, and the I-packing 3 is replaced with the one higher in height by one stage. The sealing performance can be thereby recovered to the same degree as the initial state.
