    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat highly concn. ammonia nitrogen contained in waste water of the treatment plant, waste water of sewerage treatment equipment, waste water of amine producing plant, waste water of excretion treatment equipment or waste water of a food manufacturing plant under low temp. and low pressure environment by using a catalyst. SOLUTION: Waste water is brought into contact with a waste water purifying catalyst composed of a mixture of a first active component being at least one kind of metal selected from Pt, Pd, Rh, Au, Ag and Ru, a second active component being at least one kind of oxide of metal selected from Mn, Co, Ni, Fe, Ce, V and Mo and a conductive carrier pref. being activated carbon in the presence of oxygen of which the amt. is 2.0 times or more a theoretical oxygen amt. necessary for decomposing ammonia nitrogen. This waste water method is adapted to the highly conc. ammonia nitrogen oxidative decomposition column of a waste water treatment plant to be effectively executed. By this constitution, ammonia nitrogen can be easily and certainly removed from waste water and this method can largely contribute to the enhancement of environmental purification.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a place where a deodorizing device is installed from being contaminated by odor components when regenerating an adsorbent of activated charcoal and the like through heating and also prevent the temperature of the installation place from being affected by heating by providing a catalyst for deodorizing and making harmless the odor components emitted when the adsorbent is heated, and also providing a heating means for heating the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A heat insulating material 9 covering both a deodorizing device main body 1 and a catalyst portion 2 thermally isolates an adsorbent 3, an adsorbent heater 7, a catalyst 5 and a catalyst heater 8 from one another. As the adsorbent 3, porous bodies such as well-known activated charcoal, zeolite, porous ceramics, silicagel and the like or a simple substance or complex of metal oxides such as titanium oxide, zinc oxide, manganese oxide, copper oxide and the like are used while taking the form of a honeycomb, sponge, net, fiber or a plate etc. The adsorbent heater 7 and the catalyst heater 8 both use heater wires. To regenerate the adsorbent while closing a shutter 11, a regenerating pump 6 is actuated and then air is sucked from a regenerating air inlet port 37 and odor components heated by the adsorbent heater 7 and emitted are permitted to go along the air flow and are deodorized and made harmless by the catalyst 5 which is heated by the catalyst heater 8 and activated.
