    • PURPOSE:To perform proper diagnosis of a combustion state regardless of a detection error for various state amounts by providing a means by which the start of measurement of a state amount and a measuring interval are set so that a difference between the value at a normal operation period and the value at an abnormal operation period of a combustion state parameter for deciding a combustion state is maximized. CONSTITUTION:An engine control device 9 inputs respective detecting signals from a reference sensor 12 and a position sensor 18 and after given computing processing is performed, a control signal is outputted to a lamp 19 for alarming the occurrence of a miss fire. In this case, in the engine control device 9, the measurement starting state and the measuring interval of a state amount by which a given combustion state parameter set so that various differences between a value at a normal combustion state period and a value at a miss fire period is maximized are stored in a memory 92. Meanwhile, from the stored measurement starting state, a state amount of the measuring interval is measured by means of sensors 12 and 18 and other devices 96a, 98a, and 99..., a combustion state parameter is determined and from the measured state amount, a combustion state is decided from the combustion state parameter by a CPU 91 and the memory 92.

    • PURPOSE:To allow the highly sensitive detection by providing an AGC circuit using a microcomputer which conducts such a proper gain control that the presence of a fine knocking generation can be detected in all operating states of an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:An AGC circuit 2 amplifies the output of a vibration sensor 1 for detecting the vibration of an internal combustion engine. A BPF 3 separates the output in a band containing the characteristic frequency component of knocking. A microcomputer 13 reads the operating state factors of the internal combustion engine such as engine rotating speed and engine load to determine the gain. According to this gain, a binary signal of 1.0 is outputted from the output port of the microcomputer 13. An analog switch 14 is on/off by this signal, the composite resistance value of resistance R1-R4 is changed, and the output of an amplifier 15 is changed by the ratio of the composite resistance value to a resistance R5. At this time, the gain can be controlled linearly or non-linearly by the resistances R1-R5 or the map value of a soft wear. When the number of output ports of the microcomputer 13 is increased, the control can be performed in a wide range.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a circuit securing the sufficient excitation time for each ignition coil by counting the crank angle signal independently with a counter provided for each cylinder in a microcomputer circuit and exciting each ignition coil. CONSTITUTION:An IC 4 controlling the excitation time for an ignition coil incorporates multiple counters and registers and counts the signal of a crank angle sensor. Also it has multiple ignition output terminals (i), (ii)-(n) corresponding to individual cylinders, a counter corresponding to each cylinder is compared with one comparison register for the size, and as a result if the value of the counter is lower than that of the comparison register, the excitation of the ignition coil is stopped by transistors Tr1-Trn, if it coincides with the comparison register, the excitation i started. If the excitation is stopped when the crank angle reaches the preset ignition timing, the energy stored in the ignition coil becomes a spark. Accordingly, the control IC itself of a microcomputer circuit acts like a distributing circuit, thus the ignition period can be shortened, and an ignition device suitable for high-speed rotation can be obtained.
