    • A chopper and a series circuit of a dynamic braking resistor and a thyristor are connected in parallel with a d.c. motor which is operated as a generator during braking operation. A series circuit of a diode and an inductance element is connected in series with the d.c. motor. A condenser connected between the ground and the junction of the inductance element and the diode forms a filter circuit together with the inductance element. Current generated by the d.c. motor flows into a d.c. source through the diode and the inductance element during regenerative braking operation. An over-voltage detector fires the braking thyristor when the voltage across the condenser becomes greater than a predetermined limit value, as a result the dynamic braking operation is performed. A chopper controller varies the interval between an ON pulse to turn the chopper into ON state and an OFF pulse to turn the chopper into OFF state for adjusting ON time and OFF time of the chopper in response to the current through the d.c. motor. An operation changer provides a signal to an automatic phase shifter to extend the interval between the ON and OFF pulses to a predetermined period of time enough to quench the braking thyristor when the braking operation of said d.c. motor is changed from the dynamic braking operation to the regenerative braking operation.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To limit loss generated in a switching element for an inverter constituting a main circuit within a range not made larger than a normal operation state when the special operation mode for a train washing operation is used as an operation mode, and to improve the efficiency of a device and miniaturize the device. SOLUTION: In the controller driving the electric rolling stock by inverters 7-9, a means 1 in which the special operation mode for a train washing operation in the continuity of low-speed operation during the train washing time is set at the time of the washing of the train containing a normal operation mode; a means 2 in which the switching frequency of switching elements 70-73, etc., is set in response to the operation mode; and a frequency-voltage setting means 4 of the inverters having a means in which the current command of a normal operation and a special operation are changed over, and a speed control system; are installed. The switching frequency of the inverters is lowered when the operation is changed over to a special operation from a normal operation, while an inverter frequency command and an output voltage command corresponding to the current command of the special operation mode are outputted through the speed control system.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent idle running of an electric vehicle by inhibiting turn OFF of an inverter even if the output voltage from the inverter and the input voltage to a chopper go to an excessive level, upon missing of regenerative load, and sustaining electric brake. CONSTITUTION:A three-phase induction motor 1 functions as a generator during regenerative brake operation, and the generated power is inverted into DC power through an inverter 2 thus providing a current Io. When there is a regenerative load, a current Is identical to Io is regenerated through a filter reactor 3. When there is no regenerative load, a chopper 4 functions and the output current Io is consumed through a brake resistor 5. The inverter 2 is conventionally disabled when the voltage of a filter capacitor 9 exceeds a predetermined level, but according to the invention the inverter 2 is not required to be disabled if the resistance R of the brake resistor 5 is selected properly.
