摘要： A commutator has a central support (20,6,21) supporting a plurality of conductive segments (5) separated by a plurality of insulative segments (4). In addition to providing an insulative function between the conductive segments, the dielectric constant, the area, and the thickness of the insulative segments (4) are chosen so that they provide a capacitive effect, which capacitive effect suppresses current peaks during operation of the commutator. Preferably, the dielectric constant is greater than 10. The central support (20,6,21) may include a metal shaft (21) and an insulating ring (6), which insulating ring(6) is preferably of material with a lower dielectric constant thereby to suppress shorting between the shaft (21) and the conductive segments (5). It is particularly advantageous if the conductive (5) and insulative (4) segments are of ceramics material since this provides good wear resistance. In further alternatives, capacitors are formed between the conductive segments by rings (9) or other bodies (10) of insulative materials of a suitably high dielectric constant.

摘要： PURPOSE:To keep the state of the surface of a commutator stable for the heat and spark generated in the case of the driving of a motor, by making the conductive member of the commutator out of sintered silicide based ceramics. CONSTITUTION:As the material for a commutator which has a high oxidation resistance and has no increase of the electric resistance of its surface even in case of its heating to a high temperature and has no damage caused by sparks, one of silicide based ceramics is best, and among them, TiSi and MoSi are preferable. The commutator comprises coductive parts 1 made of a conductive material and insulation parts 2 made of air or an insulating material. When all of them are made of ceramic materials, there is no necessity of the coincidence of the thermal expansion coefficient of the conductive material with the one of the insulation material. The constituent conductive material of the commutator is dependent on the motor capacity relative to it, but the desirable specific electric resistance of the conductive ceramics is not larger than 10 OMEGAm, since the large electric resistance is accompanied by a heat generation in the conductive segment part of the commutator. Also, the desirable electric resistance of the insulation material necessary for the interlayer insulation between the conductive segments and for the insulation of a central insulation ring from others is not smaller than 10 OMEGAm.

Ceramic may otherwise be used for all the materials composing the commutator for improving heat resistance and abrasion resistance, and reducing the weight.
