摘要： When ink droplets are ejected angled or splashed where a plurality of minute ink droplets are generated, angled or splashed ink clings on an electrode 401, 402 and increases the amount of electric current conducted therethrough, and so the defectiveness of ink ejection can be detected by monitoring the amount of the electric current. When the defectiveness of ink ejection is detected, ejection data D is retrieved and updates the ejection data D based on a condition register S, and set to a defective register E. When the defective register E has only one element that takes a condition value of 1 indicating defectiveness, the corresponding nozzle is identified defective. The restoring means reallocates dots, which have originally allocated to the defective nozzle, to neighboring nozzle.

摘要： An ink jet printer has an ink channel which is filled with ink, a nozzle which moves the ink channel into fluid connection with the external atmosphere and a thermal resistor which is provided in the ink channel near to the nozzle. A voltage pulse is applied to the thermal resistor, in response to which the thermal resistor heats up rapidly so that some of the ink in the ink jet channel is rapidly vaporised by undercooled boiling which is caused by alternating bubble formation, in order to form a bubble, the expansion of the bubble causing an ink droplet to be ejected from the nozzle. In this thermal resistor boiling begins within 2 mu sec after the application of the voltage pulse has begun. The voltage pulse is applied to the thermal resistor for a period of 3 mu sec or less. The bubble which is produced by applying the voltage pulse to the thermal resistor disappears without the thermal resistor producing secondary bubbles. The bubble which is produced by the application of the voltage pulse to the thermal resistor disappears within 11 seconds after the application of the voltage pulse has begun. The energy required to produce the bubble is 4 mu J/50 x 50 mu m or less.

摘要： The picture retainer (1) has a picture with unfixed toner (12) which is pushed through an intermediate space between the rollers (9,10) so that it is thermically fixed by melting. The heat section (1) has a heating an cooling deviec (13,14) of unit structure, which incorporates a cooler and a heater acting as retainer. The fixture device comprises a thin, endless metal strip (8) which rotates whilst it contacts the unit structure. A non-adhesive film is on the outer upper surface of the strip, and a drive roller (9) causes the endless metal strip to rotate by applying a pressure to it. The surface temp. in a section in which the endless metal strip is in press contact with the picture retainer (11) is initially raised to a temp. near to the melting point of the toner and then cooled. The non-adhesive film on the endless metal strip is either of silicon rubber or silicon resin. USE/ADVANTAGE - To solve problems with a SURF-type fixture in electrophotography.

摘要： A plurality of heaters (3,4,5) are provided on a silicon substrate (1) in a plurality of individual ink channels (9). Each heater is constructed from a thin-film resistor (3) and a thin-film conductor (4,5). The thin-film resistor (3) is formed with an electrical-insulation layer (3') on its upper surface. The electrical-insulation layer (3') is formed by subjecting the thin-film resistor (3) to a high-temperature thermal oxidation process. The thin-film resistor (3) formed with the electrical-insulation layer (3') may be covered with an additional insulation layer (7, Fig. 5) of a thickness substantially equal to that of the thin-film resistor (3). A partition wall (8) covers all of the conductor (4) and also covers part of the resistor (3). A nozzle (12) is arranged above the resistor (3) as shown in the Figure.
