摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance transparency and to enable easy deposition of thick films by constituting a liquid crystal orientation layer of a three-dimensionally crosslinked resin added with a compd. having a polysiloxane skeleton and imparting ability of liquid crystal orientation to the layer by rubbing. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal orientation layer, which consists of the three- dimensionally crosslinked resin added with the compd. having the polysiloxane skeleton and is imparted with the liquid crystal orientateability by rubbing, is used. The compd. having the polysiloxane skeleton is preferably siloxane having oxyalkylene side chains. The compd. having the polysiloxane skeleton is added to the three-dimensionally crosslinked resin at 0.01 to 20 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. the resin as the amt. of addition. A resin contg. glycidyl acrylate (including glycidyl methacrylate) and its hardener is usable as the three- dimensionally crosslinked resin. Further, the hardener is at least one kind selected from trimellitic anhydride, 2,4-diaminobenzene, 4,4'-diaminostibene, etc.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily form a thick film with high transparency by using a three- dimensional crosslinking resin to form a film and giving liquid crystal orientating ability to the film by rubbing. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal orienting film is produced by dissolving a three-dimensional crosslinking resin in an org. solvent to prepare a liquid crystal orienting film material, applying the obtd. material on a substrate, and successively subjecting to predrying, hardening and rubbing treatment. As for the three-dimensional crosslinking resin, a resin containing glycidylacrylate (including glycidyl methacrylate) and its hardening agent is used. As for the hardening agent, at least one compd. selected from trimellitic acid anhydride, 2,4- diaminoazobenzene, 4,4'-diaminostilbene and magneson is used. The rubbing treatment is carried out by using a roller with a nylon or rayon cloth wound and rubbing the surface of the orienting film. Thereby, orientation of liquid crystal molecules is obtd.

SOLUTION: The oriented layers 8 of the liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal housing cell, the liquid crystals 9 housed in this liquid crystal housing cell, the oriented layers 8 arranged for the liquid crystals 9 and driving means for the liquid crystals 9 are the three-dimensionally crosslinked resins. In such a case, the thickness of the oriented layers 8 is preferably 0.3 to 5 μm. Such oriented layers 8 may be imparted with liquid crystal orientability by rubbing. At the time of producing such liquid crystal display device, the oriented layers 8 are subjected to a rubbing treatment in order to impart the liquid crystal orientability to their surfaces after the oriented layers are formed. The rubbing treatment is the treatment to wind velvet-like rubbing cloth of, for example, nylon, rayon, etc., on a roller and rubbing the layer in such a manner that the surface of the rotating roller and the surface of an over-coating layer(OC) 4 come into contact with each other. The orientation of the liquid crystal molecules is obtd. in such a manner.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal-oriented film that is capable of orienting liquid crystals even without the use of a rubbing method and is capable of withstanding a heat treatment in a production stage for a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal-oriented film contains a resin having atomic groups which are photoisomerizable and exhibit dichromaticity in the main chain structure of the resin. The orientability of the liquid crystal-oriented film is imparted to the film by directly irradiating the resin film with polarized light. The orientability is stably held and fixed. The liquid crystal-oriented film is used for the liquid crystal display element holding the liquid crystals between a pair of substrates on at least one which electrodes are formed and the liquid crystal oriented films are to be formed. The atomic groups which are photoisomerizable and exhibit the dichromaticity are preferably an azobenzene deriv., stilbene deriv., etc., and the resin is preferably a polyimide resin.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color filter having an overcoat layer (OC) which can orient a liquid crystal by rubbing, by adding a liquid crystal orienting ability to a protective film. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal orienting ability is imparted by rubbing an OC of a color filter for a color liquid crystal display device. Namely, this color filter consists of a transparent substrate 2, specified pixel groups 3 formed on the transparent substrate 2, and a protective film 4 formed on the specified pixel groups 3. The protective film 4 has liquid crystal orienting ability. In this case, a three-dimensionally crosslinked resin is preferably used for the protective film 4. In the production of the color filter above described, after the OC is formed, the surface of the OC is subjected to rubbing to give liquid crystal orienting ability. The rubbing treatment is carried out, for example, by using a velvet rubbing cloth such as nylon and rayon wound on a roller and bringing the rotating roller surface into contact with the OC surface to rub. Thus, the liquid crystal molecules are oriented.
