    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the transmission loss characteristic by using optical fiber strands positioned at both ends of a tape fiber formed by gathering a number of optical fiber strands as the dummy fiber. SOLUTION: This optical fiber composite overhead earth-wire 4 is formed by stranding up an aluminum-coated steel wire 3 outside of an optical fiber unit 1 and a protective tube 2 of an aluminum pipe accommodating the optical fiber unit 1. The optical fiber unit is formed by arranging four optical fiber strands in parallel in the same plane and accommodating the same in an aluminum spacer by using a four-core bundled tape fiber 6 of which the circumference is coated. A number of tape fibers 6 are accommodated in a groove in a laminated state, a holding wiring 8 is wound on an outer periphery of the spacer 7, the spacer 7 is provided with four grooves at interval of 90 deg. in the circumferential direction, and the tape fibers 7 are accommodated in each groove in a laminated state. By using the strands positioned at both ends of the taper fiber 6 as the dummy fiber 9, the impairing of the optical transmission loss can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the elongation distortion effect of optical fibers by covering the peripheries of optical fiber cores for an OPGW with relaxation layers having cushion effect, and stranding the covered cores around a center material axis in a pipe. CONSTITUTION:In an optical fiber elongation distortion relaxation type OPGW 6, center material 1, extending in an axis direction, is established in a shaft center, and plural optical fibers 3, whose silicon coated peripheries are covered with relaxation layers 2, are stranded around the material 1. The layers 2 are formed concentrically in the cross sections thereof around the cores 3 by foaming sponge foaming material having cushion effect. Since a pipe 4, protecting the cores 3 from outside, is established coaxially with the material 1 on the outside of the plural cores 3 covered with the layers 2, the cores 3 covered with the layers 2 are constrained between the material 1 and the inside peripheral wall of the pipe 4. Thereby the elongation distortion relaxation effect of the cores 3 is heightened, and no sectional elongation, torsion and the like of the cores 3 are allowed, so that life is extended and transmission performance can be improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exchange optical fiber unit and to allow not to be drawn meandering into a protection tube by screw machining the outer peripheral face of an optical fiber unit having plural optical fiber strands and the inner peripheral face of the protection tube containing it leaving gaps, and providing catching in a lengthwise direction. SOLUTION: Optical fiber strands 6 are twisted around a core material 5, and secondary coating material 9 is applied to the outside thereof so as to form an OP unit 1. On the outer periphery of an aluminum protection tube 8 having a larger inside diameter than the outside diameter thereof aluminum- coated steel wires 3 are twisted. Female screw type screw machining 81 on the inner face of the protection tube 8 and male screw type screw machining 91 on the surface of the secondary coating material 9 are formed so as to interlock leaving gaps (g). Thanks to a friction effect resulting from the mutual catching of the screw machining 81, 91, the movement of the OP unit 1 in a lengthwise direction is suppressed. The movement of the OP unit 1 is possible to some extend because of the gaps (g) so that elongation is little influenced by metal wheel passing at a drawing time.
