    • Described is a method of recovering, in a pure, substantially neutral state, non-volatile organic compounds containing reactive olefinic double bonds from a starting liquid mixture containing such compounds, together with lesser amounts of acid reaction constituents and/or appropriate auxiliaries. The method calls for the mixture to be neutralized, the salts thus formed to be separated off and pure products to be recovered which, even without distilling them, have both low residual acid numbers and low colour levels, using finely powdered solid oxides, carbonates and/or hydroxides of alkali metals and/or alkaline-earth metals as neutralizing agents and subsequently separating off the liquid organic phase from the solid phase formed. The method proposed is characterized in that the neutralization is carried out as follows: the solid neutralizing agent is added to the hot starting mixture in an amount which is at least approximately stoichiometric with respect to the acid number of the starting mixture; simultaneously or subsequently, a limited amount of water is added; the mixture is neutralized by mixing at least for a period of several minutes; the water is distilled off from the hot reaction mixture at reduced pressure; and the solids now present are separated from the liquid phase. A special embodiment of the invention concerns the use of this method for inhibitor exchange in mixtures of substances with reactive radical groups. In this embodiment, an inhibitor intended to act during the manufacturing process and capable of reacting with bases to form salts is exchanged for inhibitors intended to act in the particular application of the product manufactured and which may be of any kind and present in any amount.
