摘要： Disclosed herein are electromagnetic logging systems and methods that provide a set of signals that robustly approximate the response of a model tool employing orthogonal triads of point-dipole antennas. One illustrative method embodiment obtains an azimuthally sensitive electromagnetic logging tool's signal measurements as a function of position in a borehole, the tool having at least two spacing distances (d1, d2) between transmit and receive antennas. Orthogonal direct coupling measurements (Vxx, Vyy, Vzz) are derived from the signal measurements and converted into a set of robust signals, the set including: a ratio between Vzz coupling components at different spacing distances, a ratio between Vxx and Vzz coupling components, a ratio between Vyy and Vzz coupling components, and a ratio between Vxx and Vyy coupling components. The set may include an additional robust signal having a ratio between a sum of cross-coupling components Vxz+Vzx or Vyz+Vzy and a sum of orthogonal direct coupling components.

The electromagnetic resistivity logging tool is placed at a desired location. The transmitter coil and the receiver coil are positioned at a first azimuthal angle. The signal at the receiver coil, a tilt angle of the transmitter coil, a tilt angle of the receiver coil and the first azimuthal angle are then used to calculate a first complex voltage representing at least one component of the received signal.

The method includes determining crosstalk between the multiple coils at each of the plurality of tilted angles from the plurality of responses. The method includes determining a signal-to-noise ratio for each of the plurality of tilted angles based on the crosstalk. The method also includes selecting a tilted angle for the collocated antenna assembly corresponding to an optimal signal-to-noise ratio of the determined signal-to-noise ratios.

摘要： A method includes generating a ranging model of a drilling wellbore to be drilled and generating a predicted signal along measured depths of the drilling wellbore based on the ranging model. The method includes performing the following operations until the drilling wellbore has been drilled to a defined depth. The following operations include drilling, with a drill string, the drilling wellbore to an increment of the defined depth and detecting, by a sensor positioned on the drill string, an electromagnetic field emanating from a target wellbore. The following operations include determining ranging measurements to the target wellbore at the increment based on the electromagnetic field and calibrating the predicted signal based on the ranging measurements. The following operations include determining ranging accuracy for all deeper depths in the wellbore and making drilling decisions or adjusting drilling operations based on the predicted ranging accuracy for deeper depths.

摘要： A transmitter of a downhole tool inserted in a borehole of a geological formation transmits a first signal. A receiver of the downhole tool receives a second signal, where the second signal is induced by the first signal in the geological formation. A simple response matrix is determined based on the second signal, where the simple response matrix includes a plurality of response components. One or more of the response components are combined and a modified response matrix is formed by replacing one or more of the plurality of response components in the simple response matrix with a linear combination of the response components of the simple response matrix. The modified response matrix is inverted and an indication of formation properties in the geological formation is output.
