    • The present disclosure is directed to an apparatus which can be installed for opening and closing fluid flow production from a formation penetrated by a cased well borehole and connected therewith through perforations. The production tubing string is installed with a moveable sleeve having a closed and open position. The moveable sleeve defines a controllable pathway into the production tubing string. In conjunction with that, there is an internal receptacle formed in the production tubing string to enable landing of a sonde there at. The sonde connects firmly at the receptacle. Similarly, the moveable sleeve in the production tubing string has a receptacle it in which enables unique landing of a latching mechanism, the latching mechanism extending along the axis of the production tubing string at the urging of a motor in said sonde. The motor operates an elongate extendible member to move the sleeve from the closed to the open position and back. Suitable valves, passages and containers affiliated with the sonde can be used to capture samples or to otherwise control production.

    • A well drilling tool is disclosed as having an inner tubular member rotatably supported from an outer tubular member by means of bearings contained within an annular lubricant chamber between them. An annular chamber is formed in an inner tubular member to provide a reservoir for supplying additional lubricant to the chamber to replace that which is lost during use of the tool. An annular piston is sealably slidable within the reservoir, and drilling fluid, which is circulated through a passageway through the tool, is admitted to one end of the reservoir by a port in the inner member to urge the piston toward the other end of the reservoir which connects with the lubricant chamber.

    • A hermetic pressure connector which provides a pressure-tight, electrically conductive connection through a hole in a bulkhead. The connector includes a transverse support member having a high pressure side and an opposite low pressure side. A passage extends through the transverse support member between the opposite sides. A conductor pin having an axial portion extends through the passage. An insulating sleeve surrounds at least the axial portion of the conductor pin, thereby electrically insulating the transverse support member from the conductor pin. A molded connected body surrounds at least a central portion of the conductor pin at least at one of the high and low pressure sides to thereby mechanically support the conductor pin in the passage. The molded connector body is directly sealingly engaged with the conductor pin, the insulating sleeve and the transverse support member. The insulating sleeve may be formed as a two-piece insert that includes a ceramic piece on the high pressure side and a piece formed of polymeric material on the low pressure side.

    • A method and apparatus for drill pipe conveyed logging is disclosed. In a highly deviated well borehole, the apparatus comprises a hollow housing for surrounding a logging tool, lockable and releasable rotating connector joined to said housing, and weights along one side to rotate said housing against or relative to the low side of the deviated well bore. The rotating connector includes a telescoping sleeve, and can move downwardly to lock abutting shoulders, or move upwardly to permit logging tool rotation. A nonconductor housing rotatably locks with a hollow nut and compressed rings. The housing has aligned SP electrode windows aligning with SP electrodes to operate through the housing. A male wet connector enclosed in a sealed capsule is affixed at the top end of the housing and is electrically connected to the logging tool. A cooperative female wet connector in a similar closed capsule is supported on a logging cable. The logging cable is pumped down, mechanical connection is made, separate electrical connection between the mating connectors is made, and drilling fluid is excluded by virtue of positioning the mating connectors in separate closed capsules which are filled with a selected insulating liquid. A method of operation for connection and disconnection is also disclosed.

    • The present disclosure is directed to a shock absorbing device for threading in a tubing string for running delicate instruments into a well borehole where they are in near proximity to explosives which might otherwise be detonate. This particularly is important in a well borehole which is filled with a standing column of liquid which transmits the shock waves quite readily. This is a separate assembly which can be threaded in the tubing string and has a pin and box connection for that. Moreover, it is formed of an outer mandrel surrounding connected inner upper and inner lower mandrels; the inner mandrels define annular spaces for receiving shock absorbers defined by alternating thin layers of metal and rubber; the metal and rubber washers have different shock wave impedances and tend therefore to absorb shock waves traveling either upwardly or downwardly in the well borehole.
