    • A receptacle comprises a receptacle housing having a body, a plug interface portion extending therefrom, and a contact support member with pivot areas formed therein for urging contacts disposed in the housing into alignment. A receptacle further comprises a shielding shell having cantilevered beams formed therein. The shielding shell has a projection extending therefrom for contacting a latch arm extending from the receptacle housing. A shielding gasket is disposed around the shielding shell and has overlapping rows of beams extending therefrom. The shielding gasket also has a projection extending therefrom that is situated in a channel formed in a latch arm. The latch arm is formed as part of a latch plate comprising a latch bar, two latch arms, and at least one projection for contacting ground.

    • In an electrical connector, one or more contacts may be inserted into a base housing. The contacts A may be stamped from a sheet of electrically conductive material. A housing cover may be assembled onto the base housing. The base housing and housing cover may be molded from an electrically insulating material. A structure may be provided for retaining the contacts in the housing. Angled surfaces on the cover come into contact with lead-in surfaces on beams of the contacts. Downward motion of the cover towards the base cams the contact beams outward to a specified distance, thus creating a preload situation of the contact beams against the surfaces. The contacts may be bifurcated or single beam contacts.

    • This invention relates to an improved power connector that has a housing comprising a plurality of slots that are each for receiving a receptacle contact. Preferably, the housing has a plurality of quick-disconnect contacts each disposed in one of the housing slots. Further, a cover, may be coupled to the housing, and the housing may comprise a top portion and a bottom portion. A strain relief member, may be disposed between the cover top and bottom portions. A plurality of cables extend through the channels disposed in the strain relief members and are attached to the housing quick disconnects. A latching spring assembly that may comprise two latching springs is coupled to the housing and attaches the power cable connector to a receptacle connector, such as a right-angle or straight board connector.
