    • A fusing assembly includes (a) a first member having a first edge, a second edge and an end-to-end axis; (b) a second member having a fusing surface forming a fusing nip with the first member, and the fusing nip being located between the first edge and the second edge of each of the first member and the second member; (c) a heating member extending along the end-to-end axis for heating at least one of the first member and the second member to an image marking material fusing temperature; and (d) a temperature equalizing device for equalizing a temperature of the at least one of the first member and the second member, the temperature equalizing device including plural heat conductors, each heat conductor of the plural heat conductors including a first end and a second end, a body portion between the first end and the second end, the body portion being spaced from and out of contact with the fusing surface of the second member with only the first end and the second end discretely contacting the fusing surface, with the first end and the second end being arranged in an overlapping manner, for contacting the at least one of the first member and the second member at a first contact point and at a second contact point respectively for conducting heat from one of the first contact point and the second contact point to the other.

    • The present invention provides a knife with a replaceable blade which is spring-biased in the retracted position. The knife is designed such that the blade can only be extended by exerting a downward force and by turning the handle with respect to an inner housing. The handle has a tab affixed to the inside wall of the handle. The inner housing has an angled slot in its wall adapted to receive the tab. When the blade is fully retracted, the tab rests on the shoulder at the top of the inner housing. A straight downward pressure on the handle causes the tab to engage the shoulder and will not allow the blade to extend. When the handle is rotated, the tab enters the slot and the blade is forced downward. As this occurs, the blade extends through a slot at the bottom of a blade cover. When the blade is removed from the object to be cut, the spring forces the handle to move with respect to the inner housing and causes the blade to retract within the blade cover. The handle has a longitudinal axis which is between 1 degree and 35 degrees from the line perpendicular to the bottom surface of the blade cover. In this position, the operator holds the handle with his thumb and forefinger at the end of the handle opposite the blade.

    • An apparatus which mixes developer material in the chamber of a developer housing. A pair of augers transport the developer material in a recirculating path from one region of the chamber to another region. A generally planar member is interposed between the augers to separate the augers from one another. The planar member has an aperture in at least one marginal region configured to allow developer material to gently move between the first auger and the second auger and being adapted to reduce back up of the developer material and flow unevenness.
