摘要： The diagnosis apparatus according to the invention for the picture providing recording of fluorescing biological tissue by way of an endoscope contains a stimulation light source which beams spectral components suitable for fluorescence stimulation into the tissue through the endoscope. The fluorescent light reflected by the tissue reaches through the endoscope optics into a head piece where it is split into a green, and spacially separated from this, a red spectral component and falls each on one half of a CCD solid body of a highly sensitive black and white camera. In an electronic and processor component the video signals allocated to the green and to the red spectral component are processed into two separate processing channels in a manner such that the separately processed green-red video signals are simultaneously inputted to a color video monitor and here may be superimposed to a red-green monitor picture, which may show changes of tissue indicating disease, for example dysplasia, carcinomas in situ etc., in all organs which are endoscopically accessible.

摘要： The invention concerns a 5-aminolevulinic acid ester (E-ALA) solution for producing a pharmaceutical preparation useful for diagnosing and/or treating tissue and/or cell pathologies by local radiation exposure using radiation emitted by a light source energy followed, in the case diagnosis, by detection of fluorescent protoporphyrin IX (Pp1X). The E-ALA concentration in the solution is less than 1% and ranges between 0.01% and 0.5%. The low E-ALA concentration in the solution increases Pp1X synthesis and homogenises its distribution in the cell layers while highly reducing the secondary toxicity for the treated cells.

摘要： This invention relates to oligonucleotide targeting agents and their use in the treatment of diseased cells by selective photochemotherapy (PCT). PCT is a method of treating human diseases and disorders, bacteriological indications and other pathological conditions. PCT is based on the topical or systemic application of a photosensitizing agent, a precursor or pro-drug thereof, which preferentially accumulates in the target tissue. Irradiation of the photosensitizing agent located in the target tissue with electromagnetic radiation of an appropriate wavelength and the interaction of the thus excited photosensitive moiety with oxygen leads to tissue damage and destruction of the irradiated areas.

摘要： The invention relates to a method of and to an apparatus for perforating the tubular wrappers of plain or filter cigarettes and other rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry. The articles are advanced sideways at the periphery of a rotary drum-shaped carrier which cooperates with a device serving to roll them about their longitudinal axes while the wrappers are being perforated by one or more pulsating beams issuing from one or more lasers and passing through a stationary cylinder lens on their way to the facets of a rotating cylindrical mirror which directs the beam(s) across the axis of the carrier and pivots the beam(s) about such axis on its or their way radially outwardly of the carrier toward a first set of stationary deflecting mirrors. These mirrors deflect the beam(s) in at least substantial parallelism with the axis of the carrier at locations radially outwardly of the latter's periphery toward a second set of deflecting mirrors which, in turn, direct the beam(s) substantially radially toward the axis of the carrier and against spherical lenses which focus the beam(s) upon the wrappers of the articles.

摘要： Apparatus for making perforations in continuous or interrupted webs of cigarette paper or the like has one or more perforating units serving to direct radiant or electrical energy against selected portions of the web to make holes therein. That portion of each perforating unit which surrounds the locus of propagation of energy beyond the respective perforating unit is externally cooled and cleaned by one or more streams of compressed gas which ensure that such portion cannot accumulate solid combustion products which could interfere with the propagation of energy toward the web. The stream or streams are furnished by the orifices of nozzles which can be provided in the carrier or carriers for the perforating units or can be outwardly adjacent to the carrier or carriers.

摘要： Apparatus for perforating a web of wrapping material or tubular wrappers of discrete filter cigarettes of unit length or double unit length in a filter tipping machine has a laser which is energizable at a frequency depending on the speed of the main prime mover of the machine to emit a beam which is reflected by a pivotable reflector to impinge alternately upon different portions of a single optical system or upon several discrete optical systems serving to focus the beam upon the web or upon discrete wrappers whereby the beam forms two or more rows or more complex patterns of perforations in the web or in the wrappers of successive cigarettes. The pivotable reflector can be omitted or is optional if a diffraction grating is placed in front of a single optical system so that the grating splits the beam into several discrete beams each of which is focused upon a different portion of the web or of the wrapper of a cigarette.
