    • A multi-material injection molding machine includes stationary and moving platens holding cores and first and second injection units for delivering first and second molding materials. The moving platen is slidable towards and away from the stationary platen. Further provided is a rotational distribution unit movable between the stationary platen and the moving platen and defining first cavities on one side and second cavities on an opposite side. The first cavities are for mating with cores to define first mold cavities and the second cavities are for mating with cores to define second mold cavities. Also provided are a rotational actuator for rotating the rotational distribution unit and a molding material delivery apparatus for delivering one or more of the first molding material to the first cavities and the second molding material to the second cavities.

    • A nozzle for an injection molding apparatus is provided. The injection molding apparatus has a mold component that defines a mold cavity and a gate into the mold cavity. The nozzle includes a nozzle body, a heater, a tip, a tip surrounding piece and a mold component contacting piece. The nozzle body defines a nozzle body melt passage therethrough, that is adapted to receive melt from a melt source. The heater is thermally connected to the nozzle body for heating melt in the nozzle body. The tip defines a tip melt passage therethrough, that is downstream from the nozzle body melt passage, and that is adapted to be upstream from the gate. The tip surrounding piece is removably connected with respect to said nozzle body. The mold component contacting piece is connected with respect to the nozzle body. The material of the mold component contacting piece has a thermal conductivity that is less than at least one of the thermal conductivity of the material of the tip and the thermal conductivity of the material of the tip surrounding piece.

    • A nozzle for an injection molding apparatus is provided. The nozzle includes a nozzle body, a heater and a first gap seal surface. The nozzle body defines a nozzle body melt passage, that is adapted to be downstream from and in fluid communication with a melt source, and upstream from and in fluid communication with a gate into a mold cavity in a mold component. The heater is thermally connected to the nozzle body for heating melt in the nozzle body melt passage. The first gap seal surface is positioned on a structure that is connected at least indirectly to the nozzle body. The first gap seal surface is adapted to be separated by a gap with respect to a second gap seal surface on the mold component. The gap is sized to inhibit the flow of melt between the first gap seal surface and the second gap seal surface.

    • An injection molding system and injection molding method for making molded parts that include one or more planar heaters having a thin or a thick film resistive heater element coupled, secured, or releaseably secured to one or more sides of each of the one or more injection molding nozzles. The releasably secure coupling allows heater device to be visually inspected, tested, removed, and/or replaced. The planar heater device can have a support device patterned with a film electrical resistive path. The electrical resistive path can include any pitch or number of electrical resistance lines, such that a longitudinal uniform heat profile is generated along a melt flow channel of the one or more injection molding nozzles when the nozzles are in use. In some examples, the planar heater has more than one film resistive heater element that can be coupled to one or each side of a nozzle, with dielectric material interposed between the planar film resistive heater elements. This can allow for additional or alternative heating in various applications.

    • An injection molding system having a manifold nozzle connection that accommodates thermal expansion of the system. A manifold nozzle tubular connector is receivable at a first end within a manifold and at a second end within a nozzle and has a length that bridges a space between opposing surfaces of the manifold and nozzle. The first end of the tubular connector may be threadably and/or permanently attached within a manifold bore in a downstream surface of the manifold with the second end of the tubular connector being slidably received within a nozzle bore in an upstream surface of the nozzle or within a nozzle melt channel.
