摘要： A bone plate system for fixation of bone includes a bone plate and a first fastener. The bone plate includes a bone contacting surface, an upper surface, and a first opening extending between the bone contacting surface and the upper surface. The first opening includes a lower portion, a non-threaded upper portion, and a threaded portion. The threaded portion includes threads and converges towards the lower portion. The lower portion includes a smallest diameter of the first opening. The first fastener includes a head at least partially comprising a spherical portion and a first material. When the first fastener is inserted into the first opening, the threads of the first opening form threads in the first material on the head of the first fastener to secure the first fastener in place at one of a plurality of possible angles within the first opening.

摘要： A system for fixation of bone, including a bone plate with an opening comprising threads made of a first material and a fastener with a head at least partially comprising a polymeric material that is softer than the first material. In some embodiments, when the fastener is inserted into the first opening, the threads of the first opening form threads in the polymeric material on the head of the fastener and secure the fastener in place at one of a plurality of possible angles within the first opening. The first opening additionally accepts a fastener with a substantially spherical head for compression of a fracture, or a fastener with a threaded head that engages with the threads of the threaded opening. In some embodiments the first opening includes a substantially frustoconical-shaped top portion. In other embodiments there may be a second opening that is either non-threaded or comprises a plurality of protruding fins.

The core module housing includes a treatment module interface configured to couple to any one of a plurality of treatment modules, and each of the plurality of treatment modules includes a treatment assembly configured to apply a medical treatment. The core housing module contains one or more processing devices coupled to the treatment module interface and configured to determine which particular treatment module, from the plurality of treatment modules, is coupled to the treatment module interface. The one or more processing devices are configured to select, based on the determination, a set of control instructions for the particular treatment module from a plurality of control instructions, and control the particular treatment module using the selected control instructions such that the treatment assembly of the particular treatment module applies the medical treatment for which the treatment assembly is configured.

The apparatus includes a portable self-contained main operating unit, a support fixture, an ultrasonic transducer treatment head module, and casting material for attaching the support fixture to the orthopaedic cast. The support fixture is configured and adapted for attachment to the orthopaedic cast adjacent an external site corresponding to an internal injury remote from the main operating unit. The support fixture has a body and at least one mesh projection extending from the body. The ultrasonic transducer treatment head module is operatively connected to the main operating unit and detachably engaged with the body of the support fixture. At least a portion of the casting material impregnates the mesh projection to attach the support fixture to the cast.
