    • A tension sensing assembly for a seat restraint system in a vehicle includes a housing and a movable mechanism disposed in the housing. The tension sensing assembly also includes at least one spring disposed in the housing and cooperable with the movable mechanism. The tension sensing assembly includes at least one magnet disposed in the housing and a Hall effect sensor disposed in the housing and cooperable with the at least one magnet. The tension sensing assembly further includes a cable extending through the housing and cooperable with the movable mechanism to move the movable mechanism to deflect the at least one spring. The movable mechanism moves the at least one magnet relative to the Hall effect sensor to change an output of the Hall effect sensor to indicate a tension level in the seat restraint system when the at least one spring is deflected.

    • A soldering station with a control unit and a soldering iron having a replaceable soldering tip, the soldering iron being connected to the control unit by a power cord for receiving electrical power from said control unit is provided with an automatic calibration feature. The control unit has circuitry for controlling the temperature of the soldering iron at the tip by adjusting the supply of power to the tip heater of the soldering iron, a temperature selector for enabling selection of a temperature to which the soldering iron is to be heated by a user, a calibration temperature sensor connected to said circuitry and exposed for enabling it to be engaged by the tip of the soldering iron. The circuitry has a calibration mode and a heating mode, and in said calibration mode, the circuitry is compares a temperature sensed by the calibration temperature sensor and produced by contacting of the soldering iron which has been heated to a temperature selected with said temperature selector with the calibration temperature sensor, and adjusts the power supply to the tip heater so as to bring the temperature sensed by the calibration temperature sensor into conformance with the temperature selected with the temperature selector.

    • The apparatus disclosed is a type of downhole pressure gauge to be used to measure and record pressure information about oil and gas wells. The apparatus measures fluctuations in pressure by means of a mechanical pressure sensitive device, such as a Bourdon tube, and records and stores this information by converting mechanical movement, associated with pressure changes as detected by the mechanical pressure sensitive device, into corresponding voltage changes across a potentiometer which are stored in an electronic memory board. The change in voltage over time corresponds to the change in well pressure over time, thereby providing important information to the well operator. Also disclosed is a method for measuring well pressure by means of combining a mechanical pressure sensitive device with an electrical system and an electronic memory board for storing the measurements. Also disclosed is a kit, whereby an existing downhole mechanical pressure gauge can be converted to a mechanical/electrical combination by the replacement of certain parts.

    • An interactive system (10) for facilitating assembly of fuel rods into nuclear fuel assemblies having specific grid location requirements for the fuel rods, includes an operator work station (12) adapted for positioning between a supply of fuel rods and a fuel assembly loading magazine (22). Identifying data with each fuel rod is read by the operator with a manual scanner (24) for input and comparison by a computer (28) with the stored data for the particular fuel assembly to be assembled. The proper grid location for the fuel rod is then displayed on a screen (32) prompting the operator to insert the rod through a prompter/detector apparatus (36) mounted on one end of the magazine. In the preferred embodiment, the apparatus (36) includes a pair of motorized, slotted guide bars (54, 56) controlled by the computer (28) to intersect over the proper grid location for the particular fuel rod type. Sensors (92, 94, 95) are provided on the guide bars (54, 56) for automatically detecting insertion and verifying identification of the fuel rod loaded into the magazine through control logic in the computer (28). Alternate embodiments of the prompter/detector apparatus (110, 140 and 170) are disclosed to provide different degrees of prompting to assist the operator to insert each fuel rod in the proper grid location.
