    • A two-phase process FlashCopy operation is provided that can be used to aid in the formation of consistency groups across multiple storage control units. In the first phase, preparations to create a new consistency group are made “revertible” by write-inhibiting the source volumes through “Establish-FlashCopy-revertible” commands. If the preparation of any volume within the consistency group fails, a “Withdraw-FlashCopy-revert” command may be executed, thereby causing a retention of the prior FlashCopy point-in-time copy. In the second phase, executed if all preparations are successful, a “Withdraw-FlashCopy-commit” command may be executed to remove all write-inhibit indicators, complete the creation of the new FlashCopy point-in-time copy and secure the new consistency group. Write requests to the FlashCopy source volumes may then be received and processed without risking corruption of the new consistency group on the Flashcopy target volumes.

    • Methods, system and computer program product are provided to improve the efficiency of data transfers in a PPRC environment. A block of data to be transferred is divided into tracks. Each track is allocated to a data mover task control block (TCB) with a master TCB being assigned to supervise the data mover TCBs. The tracks are then transferred from the primary storage controller to the secondary controller in a piped fashion over a link coupling the primary and secondary storage controllers. However, the usage of resources is monitored by a resource management algorithm and, if too many TCBs are being used for a transfer or if the supply of data mover TCBs is exhausted, the transfer is automatically switched to a serial, non-piped transfer with the master TCB serving as the data mover TCB for the remaining tracks. In addition, the various links coupling the primary and secondary storage controllers is monitored to determine which link will provide the fastest transfer. If, during a transfer of tracks over one link, a faster link is identified, the transfer may be switched to the second, faster link.

    • A balloon type catheter used for drainage or irrigation and drainage of a body cavity such as the bladder having a tapered tip with a large elongated lateral opening spanning the approximate distance of the balloon so as to allow complete and maximally effective drainage from the most dependant portion of said body cavity. An inflatable balloon partially surrounds the catheter's distal end, and circumscribingly ending at the lateral borders of the large drainage opening. When the balloon is inflated, the tip of the catheter becomes flush or recessed relative to the balloon thereby preventing the tip from abutting against delicate tissue as to cause compression injury. A gully in the balloon created by the elongated drainage opening act as a vent and buffer the delicate surrounding tissue from negative pressure injury. When used for irrigation and drainage, the catheter has an irrigation conduit that opens at the tip of the catheter to deliver fluid that flushes the cavity and the effluent is drained out via the aforesaid large lateral opening which is designed in this invention to position itself at the lowest portion of said body cavity.

    • The present disclosure is related to a universal joint adapted mainly for connecting a telephone receiver to an extension cord thereby the phone user can move along with the receiver at the extension cord's length without getting the extension cord twisted or tangled. The universal joint has a dome-shaped cap which is provided with an opening on the wall thereof and a peripheral flange disposed at the bottom thereof; and a tapered cord seat removably inserted in the opening has a number of obliquely extended resilient legs which are bent to form a number of contact protrusions at the bottom thereof; and a pc board having a number of concentric contact tracks in contact with the contact protrusions of the cord seat; and a bottom base having a concave into which the pc board and the dome-shaped cap with the cord seat attached thereto are located; and a horizontal rectangular extension projected from the bottom base and having a downwardly extended engagement chip is coupled to a phone receiver; thereby the extension cord engaged with the cord seat at one end can be freely rotated without being tangled with the help of the rotatable dome-shaped cap.
