摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression molding apparatus and method not requiring a high expense and complicated equipment associated with heating and pressurization. SOLUTION: A mold 14 and a plug 16 are arranged mutually relatively by inserting the plug 16 into the cavity 18 of the mold 14. As a result, a gap 20 having a first vol. is formed between both of them. When the mold 14 and the plug 16 are held to first temp., a matter is housed in the gap so as to at least partially fill the gap and, when the mold 14 and the plug 16 are exposed to second temp. such that the gap 20 changes to a second vol. different from the first vol. when one of the first material of the mold 14 and the second material of the plug 16 shows a dimensional change larger than that of the other one of them, the matter is compressed to obtain a molded product.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a mold for manufacturing a laminated tile magnetic pole piece and a laminated tile metallic magnetic pole piece for MRI. SOLUTION: Respective laminated tiles 42 are formed into a trapezoidal or annular sectorial shape. By the shape, the tiles can be attached horizontally side by side and many concentric annular array bodies are formed. Thus, without using an edge part filling tile in an incomplete shape required at the time of filling a circular magnetic pole piece with quadrilateral tiles, this magnetic pole piece 50 is formed. In order to form the magnetic pole piece, by arranging the plural number of the tiles in this mold and filling the mold with an adhesive material, the plural number of the tiles are connected and an integrated tile main body is formed. Then, by taking out the integrated tile main body from the mold and attaching it to the base part 51 of the magnetic pole piece, the magnetic pole piece is formed.

摘要： A cooling system 202 for a superconducting device comprises a superconducting coil 204 and cryogenic cooling circuit 206 support arrangement 208. The support arrangement 208 includes a thermally conductive coupler 702 which provides a discrete thermal path between a superconductive coil 204 and a cryogenic cooling circuit 206. Also disclosed is a process which comprises limiting the amount of metal associated with a superconductive coil and cooling circuit support arrangement to one or more discrete paths that thermally couples a superconductive coil 204 with a cryogenic cooling circuit 206. The above cooling system and process may reduce the amount of metal members used in such a device thereby reducing the power lost to unwanted heat arising due to eddy currents in metal members when such a device is operating with alternating current magnetic field conditions. The flow of liquid helium in the cryogenic cooling circuit may be arranged to avoid a helium vapour lock. The cooling system or process may be used in a superconducting transformer, generator, motor, magnet energy store (SMES) or a magnetic resonance (NMR, MRI) system.

摘要： A magnet cooling arrangement 10 has a magnet cooling system 14 in thermal contact with a magnet 12 which provides magnet cooling, and a coolant reclamation circuit 30 for storage and release of boil-off fluid emitted from the magnet cooling system. The reclamation circuit includes a storage tank 32 which is fluidly connected to the magnet cooling system 14, and the boil-off fluid may be a gaseous cryogen which may then be released back into the magnet cooling system 14 when needed. The cooling arrangement may include an arcuate loop 38 between the cooling system and the storage tank, which is configured to reduce natural convection. The magnet cooling system may include a heater 28, a first container 18 arranged to hold liquid cryogen, a second container 22 arranged to hold gaseous cryogen, and a condensing chamber 24 which includes a cryocooler recondensing unit 26. The arcuate loop may be fluidly connected to the condensing chamber such that gaseous coolant is able to flow between the condensing chamber and storage tank, and the tank may be thermally insulated and include a pressure relief valve. The condensing chamber and cryocooler are configured to condense gaseous cryogen into liquid cryogen, and excess gaseous cryogen is received and stored in the storage tank of the reclamation circuit. The cryogen may be helium, hydrogen, neon, or nitrogen.

The trapezoidal shape allows the tiles (42) to be attached side by side to form a multiple concentric annular array pole piece (50) without using oddly shaped edge filler tiles needed to fill a circular pole piece with square tiles. The pole piece (50) is made by placing a plurality of tiles (42) into a mold (100) and filling the mold (100) with an adhesive substance to bind the plurality of tiles (42) into a unitary tile body (120). The unitary tile body (120) is then removed from the mold (100) and attached to a pole piece base (51) to form the pole piece (50). The mold cavity surface (101) preferably has a non-uniform contour (110). The bottom surface of the unitary tile body (120) forms a substantially inverse contour(114) of the mold cavity surface contour (110)
