    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable that suppresses protrusion of tension members and has excellent branching workability, and a method for branching the optical fiber cable.SOLUTION: Coated optical fibers 7, tension members 9, film-like members 13, and a supporting wire 15 are integrated by an outer housing 3. A plurality of the coated optical fibers 7 are disposed so as to come in contact with each other at approximately the center of the cross section of an optical fiber cable 1. Both sides of the coated optical fibers 7 are provided with a pair of the tension members 9. The peripheral parts of the tension members 9 are provided with the film-like members 13. The film-like members are made of, for example, resin, and polyolefin resin or the like can be used. The film-like members 13 are provided so as to cover portions of the outer peripheral surfaces of the tension members 9. In other words, the portions of the tension members 9 are covered with the film-like members 13, and other portions thereof adhere to the outer housing 3.
