    • PURPOSE:To perform the formation of a blind groove easily and accurately, by making a cutting tool setting ram so as to reciprocate in a direction at right angles each by means of two cams being synchronously rotated, in case of a device which forms the blind groove in an inner bore surface of a cylindrical sleeve member. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve member A is tightly set up to a work holder 14, and when cams 5 and 6 are rotated by a driving source 4, a rocking member 8 is rocked by the cam 6 and thereby a ram 9 is guided into a guide column 3 via an engaging part 9a and reciprocated in a Y direction. And, at the same time, another rocking member 7 is rocked by the cam 5 and a slide base 2 is reciprocated in an X direction via an engaging part 2a. With these composite motions in both X and Y directions, a cutting tool 10 describes a locus shown in (a) and (a'), and performs almost circular infeed motion toward the inner circumferential surface of a bore B of the sleeve member A. When operation for one stroke is over, a slide 12 is fed for infeed and afterward cutting such as (b), (b') and (c), (c') takes place in regular sequence, thus the formation of a blind groove is completed.
