摘要： The invention relates to a display structure comprising an electrode layer (3) superposed on a sub-layer (5) wherein a surface of the sub-layer facing the electrode layer is roughened. In particular, the display structure may relate to a TFT stack comprising a layer of an electrode metal corresponding to a pixel electrode (3). The pixel pad together with the data line (1) is used for charging of the pixel pad. The gate electrode (4) used is separated from the source and drain electrode (1, 3) by a dielectric layer (6). The structural layers of the TFT may be deposited on a suitable flexible substrate (7). In order to prevent defects in the light modulating layer (9) from being visible, a surface of the sub-layer (5) underlying the electrode layer (3) is roughened. It is desirable to provide such improvement to, among others, electrophoretic-type displays and liquid crystal-type displays.

The first roller is rotated in a first direction, whereby the second roller is rotated in a second direction. Preferably, the diameters of the first roller and the second roller are equal. Alternatively, the edge portions A, B of the multilayer structure are suitably interconnected by stoppers for preventing creeping.

摘要： A display has reduced moire interference. The display has a backplane with a regular array of pixels and a frontplane with a regular array of cells. The backplane and frontplane are laminated together. The width of the distribution of aperture (the total inner cell area above an active pixel area divided by total pixel area) over the display is reduced. Sinusoidally curved walls or other curved pixel edges may be used in the frontplane or backplane to control the distribution.

At an end of a frame i−1, for example, it is possible to drive a pixel from a level P0 further towards white to reach reflection level Pn or to stop driving it, or to switch a control voltage to an apposite polarity and arrive at a lower level. Levels P1 and P2 present embodiments of preparatory intermediate levels used to drive pixels in accordance with the invention. For example, levels 2, 4, and 6 may be obtained from the preparatory level P1. Levels 3, 5, and 7 may be obtained from the preparatory level P2.

The pixel control structure is formed by a first patterned conductive layer portion, a second patterned conductive layer portion, a dielectric layer portion, and an organic patterned semiconductive layer portion. The dielectric layer portion comprises an overlap region defined by overlap of the second conductive layer portion over the first conductive layer portion. The overlap region defines an overlap boundary, defined by an edge portion of the first patterned conductive layer portion and an edge portion of the second patterned conductive layer portion. The patterned semiconductive layer portion extends over the overlap region and away from the overlap region so as to extend from both first and second edge portions.

The optical layer and electronics are comprised in a flexible foil structure which is supported by a backing structure in mechanical contact on a backside of the flexible foil structure. The backing structure includes a deformable material having a viscous response in a critical range, which critical range is defined for a given front impact event by a pressure threshold (σcritical) and a stretching threshold (εcritical) of the flexible foil structure such that the optical layer and/or electronics are not damaged by the impact event.
