摘要： The present invention refers to a recording medium having an ink-receiving layer comprising an alumina hydrate and an acid-processed gelatin, wherein the acid-processed gelatin is a modified gelatin with at least some blocked carboxylic groups. The viscosity of the dispersion doesn't abruptly increase and the dispersing state remains good. In addition, the use of said dispersion provides the advantage to obtain an ink-receiving layer with proper thickness, with a glossy surface and free of defects, such as cracks or microcoagulations.

摘要： Synthesizing a particulate copolymer comprises providing a reaction mixture comprising a reaction medium, a polymerization stabilizer, a water-insoluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing hydrophilic functionality; and polymerizing the monomers. The reaction mixture has a viscosity of >=10 cPs at 40[deg]C. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a particulate copolymer dispersion comprising a particulate copolymer of a water-insoluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing hydrophilic functionality and a polymerization stabilizer dispersed in a mixture of water and 1-5C aliphatic alcohol(s); (2) a microparticle composition comprising a particulate copolymer and an auxiliary agent, wherein the auxiliary agent is bioactive agent, dye, pigment or gas encapsulated in the copolymer; and (3) a photographic material comprising a support base coated with red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer(s) comprising a cyan-dye forming coupler, green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer(s) comprising a magenta-dye forming coupler, blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer(s) comprising a yellow-dye forming coupler and an outer gelatin protective layer comprising particulate copolymers of the invention.
