摘要： A microwave waveguide applicator and a method for heating, drying, or curing generally planar materials or products. The applicator comprises a waveguide having a pair of opposing broad sides perpendicular to a pair of opposing narrow sides bounding a rectangular exposure chamber. A microwave source generates and propagates microwaves through the chamber in a propagation direction and with an electric field generally directed from one broad wall to the other. Slotted openings in the narrow sides act as entrance and exit ports for a conveyor transporting a product along a conveying path through the chamber perpendicular to the propagation direction and perpendicular to the electric field. The waveguide may be ridged to focus or bend the electric field, especially for heating thin materials.

摘要： A microwave filter and method for remotely tuning a microwave filter from one sub-band to another sub-band using metallic rings to adjust the capacitance or inductance of the resonator. In adjusting the capacitance, a plurality of metallic rings are disposed in the upper section or end of the resonator. Each ring has an RF switch that connects or disconnects each ring to ground, thereby varying the capacitance of the resonator. In adjusting the inductance, a plurality of metallic rings are disposed perpendicular to the magnetic field of the resonator. Each ring has an RF switch disposed within the electrical path of the ring that opens or closes the electrical path of each ring. By opening and closing each ring, the magnetic field of the resonator is altered, thereby varying the inductance of the resonator.

摘要： A magnetic flux-enhanced control line for a superconducting flux flow transistor (SFFT). The SFFT includes a pair of superconducting electrodes which provide a voltage output, a region of weakened superconductor connecting the electrodes and a control line. The region of weakened superconductor carries a current I.sub.body and the control line carries a current I.sub.Control. The control line further has a portion thereof proximate the weakened region for providing a localized magnetic field through the weakened region as a function of I.sub.Control. The magnetic flux through the weakened region induces vortices therein which have a resistance r.sub.o. The proximate portion of the control line forms a tortuous current path whereby the magnetic flux through the weakened region is increased for increasing r.sub.o so that the output voltage of the transistor is increased without increasing I.sub.Control.
