    • The present invention concerns an apparatus for winding threads or yarns and similar strands, in which a friction drive roll and a bobbin support roll are provided. The latter is supported only at one end, and the other end is free, in such manner that easy operation is possible. In arrangements of such type any deviation, however small, of the two rolls from their correct, parallel position, is to be avoided if correctly built bobbin packages are to be produced in the winding process. This is achieved according to the invention in that a coupling means, coupled or connected with the bobbin support roll, which moves during the winding process, brings about a forcible parallel alignment of the two rolls.

    • A heatable drawroll for drawtwisting, draw-winding and spin-draw winding machines includes a stationary induction heating coil having a core and mounted within rotatable metal jacket. A sleeve of heat and electrical insulating material is stationarily disposed inside the jacket in radially spaced relation to the jacket and the coil to circumferentially surround the coil and form an intermediate space therewith for receiving a coolant for cooling the coil. Means are provided for supplying coolant to and removing coolant from the intermediate space. A second coolant space can also be formed between the coil and the core and be connected with the first space via coolant ducts through the coil. The sleeve may be porous so as to allow some of the coolant to flow therethrough and impinge on the inner surface of the jacket.

    • Threads made from thermoplastic materials are textured, in that they are heated by a delivery medium in a delivery channel and conveyed through an orifice into a stuffer box where they are stuffed to form a plug. In order to maintain plug formation constant, the orifice area is monitored in a sensory manner and the measured signals are used for monitoring purposes as a measured quantity in a control loop, in which the supply of damming back medium, the conveying away speed of the plug, the position of the stuffer box walls, or the supply of delivery medium are used as manipulated variables. The measuring signals produced by monitoring can be compared with thresholds to produce control signals corresponding to the comparison result for activating alarm, warning or stopping elements. Sensory monitoring is carried out by measuring the dynamic pressure prevailing in the delivery channel close to the orifice, by measuring the dynamic pressure in a fluidic nozzle issuing into the stuffer box, or by monitoring with an optical sensor the interior of the stuffer box.

Further, the thread is guided in relation to its conveying speed and packing density, by positive and friction guidance under the imposition of air, as far as an outlet point on the first drum, and is transfered onto a second drum (23), on which the strip is cooled, extended if appropriate, and passed on to further guide or conveying rollers (22′) respectively.
