    • A system and method for synchronous spectrum sharing for use in a wireless communication system based on orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) or orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) signaling is disclosed. The system includes a frame detector configured to detect a frame of a broadcast waveform and extract sub-carrier information from a subframe or Secondary User Map (SU MAP). SU MAP includes information on usable sub-carrier and pilot sub-carriers for secondary users. The system allows transmitting data from the secondary user node in unused sub-carriers thereby making efficient use of unused or idle spectrum. Accordingly, secondary users of wireless communication systems can dynamically form ad-hoc mesh network communications in fixed or mobile scenarios.

    • An RF transmitter filter for use in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The filter includes a waveform detector to detect a power level of a transmitted data stream on a symbol-by-symbol basis. The filter also includes a processor to select a combination of filter parameter values according to the power level. The RF transmitter filter selects and adjusts filter parameters (i.e., number of taps or filter length, word length, coefficient quantization, sampling rate, tap delay, sampling bits, etc.) based on signal waveform characteristics. The adjustments limit the transmitted bandwidth and allow transmitted signals to meet an emission mask, while still enabling a receiver to recover the correct sample values of transmitted symbols. The filter further includes a reconfigurable digital filter to filter the transmitted data stream according to the combination of filter parameters.

    • There is disclosed, for use in a CDMA receiver, a noise reduction circuit for improving the signal-to-noise ratio of a received CDMA signal comprising a series of chip sequences. The noise reduction circuit comprises: 1) a sampling circuit for generating an original plurality of samples of the received signal; and 2) a controller for determining a first plurality of time slots containing chip samples equal to Logic 1, and a second plurality of time slots containing chip samples equal to Logic 0. The controller generates a reconstructed plurality of samples by at least one of: a) modifying an order of a first Logic 1 chip sample and a second Logic 1 chip sample; and b) modifying an order of a first Logic 0 chip sample and a second Logic 0 chip sample.

    • There is disclosed a pre-distortion adjustment circuit for use in an RF transmitter that adjusts the actual adjacent channel power (ACP) noise profile of an RF power amplifier to fully use the ACP profile allowed under the applicable RF communication standard. The pre-distortion adjustment circuit pre-distorts selected components of the input signal to the RF power amplifier so that the actual output ACP profile appears similar to, if not the same as, the ACP profile under the standard. The distortion required is determined based on information extracted from the input signal, the output signal, and the standard ACP profile. The pre-distortion adjustment circuit allows significant overdrive of the RF power amplifier while maintaining the ACP noise in the RF output below the levels allowed under the standard.
