    • PURPOSE:To secure a sufficient incident power quantity in a prescribed measuring range by setting a condensing angle of an incident light, a radius of the photodetecting surface of a photodetector and a distance between the surface to be measured and the photodetecting surface under prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:Light beams which have been emitted from a light source 1 are focused by a condensing lens 2 and made incident on an end face 4a being the surface to be measured of an optical fiber to be measured. The light beams which have been made incident on the end face 4a are reflected at an angle of 2theta against an incident light by the end face, in case an inclination angle of the end face is theta, made incident on a half mirror 3 and reflected again by its reflecting surface 3a, and thereafter, made incident on a circular photodetector window 5a of a photodetector 5. In this case, by determining a condensing angle omega of the light beams which are made incident on the end face 4a of the optical fiber to be measured 4, optical path length L of the end face 4a and the photodetecting surface of the photodetector 5, a radius R of the circular photodetecting window 5a, and a prescribed maximum value thetamax of an angle of the surface to be measured of the object to be measured so as to satisfy the expression, the angle can be detected without waste and with high efficiency.

    • PURPOSE:To automatically detect an angle of the surface to be measured of plural objects to be measured by moving continuously a train of the objects to be measured or a condensing optical system by a moving mechanism and detecting its moving extent by a position sensor. CONSTITUTION:Light beams which have been emitted from a light source 1 are focused by a condensing lens 2 and made incident on an end face 4a of an optical fiber which is moving. The light beams which have been made incident on the end face 4a are reflected at an angle of 2theta against an incident light by the end face 4a, in case an inclination angle of the end face is theta, reflected again by a reflecting surface 3a of a half mirror 3, and thereafter, made incident on a circular photodetecting window 7a of a photodetector 7. On the other hand, at the time of starting a measurement, a moving table 5 which has been positioned at a prescribed position starts to move at a prescribed speed, and when the optical fiber goes into a measuring range against the condensing optical system, a measured value of the photodetecting power quantity of the photodetector 7 is inputted to an arithmetic storage device 8 by an encoder 6, and the end face inclination angle theta is detected from a peak value of the photodetecting power quantity of the photodetector 7 within the measuring range of each optical fiber 4.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the influence exerted by a fluctuation of an output level of a light source, a fluctuation of a surface state of the surface to be measured, etc., by monitoring a fluctuation of the incident power quantity of reflected light beams from the surface to be measured by a reference use photodetector. CONSTITUTION:Light beams which have been emitted from a light source 1 are focused by a condensing lens 2, transmit through a half mirror 3 and made incident on an end face 4a of an optical fiber to be measured 4. The light beams which have been made incident on the end face 4a are reflected at an angle of 2theta against an incident, in case an inclination angle of the end face is theta, reflected by a reflecting surface 3a of the half mirror 3, and thereafter, separated into a reflected light beams transmission light beams by a half mirror 5. An arithmetic unit 8 calculates a ratio of the photodetecting power quantity of a measurement use photodetector 7 and the photodetecting power quantity of a reference use photodetector 6, and outputs a result of this calculation as a measured value. In such a way, the influence exerted by a fluctuation of an output level of the light source to a result of detection of the end face inclination angle theta, a fluctuation of a surface state of the surface to be measured, etc., is eliminated.

    • PURPOSE:To axially align constant polarization optical fibers with good accuracy at a low cost by making a light signal from a light exit system incident on both the constant polarization optical fibers, measuring the light power of the linearly polarized waves orthogonal with each other of the transmitted light signal and axially aligning the optical fibers in accordance with the measured value. CONSTITUTION:The light signal L emitted from the light source 13 is successively made incident on a prism 14, the constant polarization optical fiber 1, a matching liquid 3, the constant polarization optical fiber 2, a prism 15, and light power meters 16, 17 in the stage of axially aligning the constant polarization optical fibers 1, 2. The light signal is divided to components Lx, Ly via the prism 15 and said components are inputted to the meters 16, 17. The ends of the fibers 1, 2 are relatively moved in X-, Y-axis directions to align the cores thereof to each other while the light power of the component Lx is kept monitored with the meter 16. The ends of the fibers 1, 2 are relatively rotated in the 0 direction to match the planes of polarization thereof with each other while the light power of the component Ly is kept monitored with the meter 17. The axial alignment is thus executed simply by the inexpensive meter 16.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate the adjustment of an inclination and a position of a half mirror and to detect an inclination angle of an object to be measured in a short time by providing two half mirrors for allowing reflected light beams from the object to be measured to be made incident on a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:Light beams which have been emitted from a light source 1 is focused by a condensing lens 2 and transmit through a half mirror 3, and made incident on an end face 4a of an optical fiber to be measured 4. The light beams which have been made incident on the end face 4a are reflected at an angle of 2theta against the incident light, in case an inclination angle of the end face is theta, reflected by a reflecting surface 3a of the half mirror 3, and thereafter, separated into reflected light beams and transmission light beams by a half mirror 5. In this case, if only the parallelism of two half mirrors is exact, even if a fitting position, an angle, etc., of the half mirror 3 are shifted to some extent, an optical path of the light beam is kept constant. Also, the reflected light beams and the transmission light beams are photodetected by a measurement use photodetector 7 and a reference use photodetector 6, and by measuring the photodetecting power quantity of the measurement use photodetector 7, the end face inclination angle theta of the optical fiber 4 to be measured can be detected.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate a detection error caused by a deformation of a beam pattern of light beams by allowing the light beam to be made incident on the surface to be measured, through an optical transmission and formation use optical fiber for forming, light beams from a light source to a concentric circle beam pattern, and a condensing lens. CONSTITUTION:Light beams which have been emitted from a light source 1 is focused onto an end face of an optical transmission and formation use optical fiber 6 by a condensing lens 2, propagated through the inside of the optical transmission and formation use optical fiber 6, a beam pattern is formed to a concentric circle, and thereafter, said light beams are made incident on an end face 4a being the surface to be measured of an optical fiber to be measured 4 by a condensing lens 7. The light beams which have been made incident on the end face 4a are reflected at an angle of 2theta against incident lights by the end face 4a, in case an inclination angle of the end face is theta, reflected again by a reflecting surface 3a of a half mirror 3, and thereafter, made incident on a circular photodetecting window 5a of a photodetector 5. In this case, the incident power quantity of the light beams to the photodetector 5 is varied by the end face inclination angle theta, therefore, by measuring the photodetecting power quantity of the photodetector 5, the end face inclination angle thetaof the optical fiber to be measured 4 can be detected.

    • PURPOSE:To easily observe an axis shift by slanting an image pickup surface at an image pickup angle to the optical axis of a microscope according to all focus positions of a real image and a virtual image which are picked up on the image pickup surface. CONSTITUTION:The image pickup surface 2 is slanted at the image pickup angle theta1 to the optical axis 3 of the microscope 1 according to all the focus position of the real image (a) and virtual image (b) picked upon on the image pickup surface 2. Therefore, optical fibers alpha0 and beta0 arranged on an operation surface L slanting at an optical axis angle theta1 to the optical axis 3 form images on alpha and beta on an image pickup surface P through an objective 4. Then the image pickup surface 2 of an image pickup device is arranged matching the position of the image pickup surface P (focus positions of all optical fibers to be picked up). Consequently, images can be picked up so that all the arrayed optical fibers alpha0 and beta0 are in focus at the same time, and the lens barrel of the microscope 1 is shortened to reduce the size of an observation position.
