    • PURPOSE:To stabilize the gas flow and obtain optical fiber with hardly any warpage by making the sealing gas flow in the direction to draw a wire of optical fiber and regulating the flow velocity at the outlet within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber preform 1 is placed in the interior of a wire drawing furnace 5 having a structure equipped with a heater 3 on the outside of a furnace core tube 4, then heated with the heater 3, thereby melted and drawn into a wire. Thereby, the objective optical fiber 2 is obtained. In the process, the velocity of a sealing gas flowing in the furnace core tube 4 is measured with a current meter 7 installed in the interior of an outlet part 6 of the wire drawing furnace. The resultant information is then received with a mass flow controller 8 to control the flow rate of the sealing gas (e.g. Ar gas) and the pore diameter (e.g. 8-14mmphi) at the outlet part 6 of the wire drawing furnace is changed to control the flow velocity thereof so as to provide 1.4-5.0m/sec. Thereby, a wire of the optical fiber is drawn and formed into a tape core wire to measure the connection loss. The extent of warpage is 0.67-1.75mm and the connection loss of the tape core wire is 0.05-0.11dB/km. Thereby, the objective optical fiber with hardly any warpage is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a method for producing a core fiber of an optical fiber capable of preventing the waste of a resin from stacking on the end face at outlet side of dice of a cross head. CONSTITUTION:Gas seal boxes 13a and 13b are provided at two stages so as to wholly cover the end face 4a at outlet side of dice of a cross head 2. An inert gas is fed from gas feed valves 14a and 14b in gas seal boxes 13a and 13b. An inert gas is fed from gas feed valves 14a and 14b in gas seal boxes 13a and 13b. In this state, a raw fiber 1 of an optical fiber is passed through a nipple 3 of the cross head 2 and a thermoplastic resin 6 fed from a flow path 5 of the resin between the nipple 3 and the dice 4 is applied to the raw fiber 1 of the optical fiber to provide the objective core fiber 7 of the optical fiber. At this time, dice outlet side of the cross head 2 is pressurized with the inert gas in the gas seal box 13a. Thereby, the waste of the resin is prevented from stacking on the end face at the outlet of dice of cross head.

    • PURPOSE:To manufacture a ceramic superconductor with excellent superconductive properties and mechanical strength by carrying out heating treatment after preparing a composite material from raw materials and a metal material for reinforcement and repeating prescribed processes. CONSTITUTION:In a metal container 3 having a square cross section and hollow parts 1, 2, the hollow part 1 and the hollow part 2 are filled with raw material 4 and a reinforcing material 5, respectively, and after the open ends of the container 3 are vacuum-sealed, the container is extruded to give a sheet-like composite body 6. The sheet-like composite body 6 is a composite of a layer of the raw materials 4 and the reinforcing material 5 packed in a stabilized metal material 7. The obtained composite 6 is formed into, for example, a spiralled body 8, it is packed in a metal tube 9, and after the open end is vacuum-sealed, the tube is extruded to give a wire with a desired shape. Next, the wire is subjected to prescribed heat treatment to convert the raw material into a superconductor and a ceramic superconductive conductor is manufactured. As a result, owing to high mechanical strength of the superconductor, easy process of manufacture is achieved.

    • PURPOSE:To accomplish the title mutual firm binding of a pair of superconducting materials without impairing critical current density by making their ends close to each other or bringing the ends into mutual contact and by deposition, on the boundary area, of fine particles of the same composition as that of said materials produced by a vapor phase process followed by treatment under heating. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, a pair of superconducting materials is arranged with their ends made close to each other or brought into mutual contact. Second, fine particles of composition same in the metallic component as said superconductor produced by a vapor phase process are put to on-line deposition on the boundary area. Thence, the fine particles thus deposited are subjected to treatment under heating to accomplish the objective mutual binding of said pair of ceramic superconducting materials. In the present method, handling of the powdery fine particles can be omitted, and productivity can be improved by continuous hot treatment of the fine particles deposited and carrying out sintering; furthermore, since the fine particles produced by the vapor phase process are those of submicron order size with high surface activity, the particles deposited can be sintered at relatively low temperatures, also resulting in firm binding to the interfaces of said materials.
