    • A method of manufacturing a magnetic head slider from a flying surface pattern formed on one surface of a long and slender rectangular parallelepiped slider block having a plurality of thin film magnetic head elements aligned in a row. The method includes preparing an arrangement jig including a guide plate and an adhesive rubber plate which adheres onto a lower surface of the guide plate by its adhesive force. The method also includes placing blocks in the accommodation holes on the guide plate in such a manner that the surface of each block on which a pattern is formed is directed upward and each block is fixed by the adhesive force of the rubber plate. The rubber plate is then peeled off after an upper surface of the arrangement jig has been set upside down. Pouring and penetrating hardening liquid into clearances formed between the accommodation holes on the guide plate and the blocks is the next step. The guide plate is then fixed onto a base plate and a pattern is formed on the surface of each block.

    • A process for producing a magnetic head glide piece, in which a glide face pattern is formed on one face of a long, slender, rectangular parallelepipedal glide piece block having a row of thin film magnetic head elements, involves (a) preparing a templet (11), which includes an adhesive rubber sheet (5) adhering to the bottom face of a guide sheet (3) having through-openings (1) for receiving the glide piece blocks (W), and placing the blocks (W) in the openings (1) such that the pattering surface of each block faces upwards and such that each block is held by the adhesive force of the rubber sheet; (b) stripping away the rubber sheet after covering the upper face of the templet (11) with a film; (c) casting and infiltrating a curable liquid into the interspaces between the openings (1) and the blocks (W) in order to coat the block sides and to fix the blocks to the guide sheet; (d) fixing the entire guide sheet (3) to a base sheet after the liquid has cured; and (e) forming a pattern on each block face by an exposure, development and etching process. Preferably, the rubber sheet consists of an adhesive material such as silicone rubber or fluorine-containing rubber and the curable liquid consists of a photosensitive resist liquid or a cyanoacrylate adhesive. Also claimed is a guide sheet as described above, for use in the above process.
