    • In some embodiments, a terminal-to-terminal network may include one or more terminals each configured to receive a timing reference signal. The one or more terminals may be further configured to select a timing offset relative to a periodic transmission frame of the terminal-to-terminal network. The timing offset may be associated with a time relative to the periodic transmission frame at which a timing synchronization signal is broadcast. The timing synchronization signal may be based at least in part on the timing reference signal. The one or more terminals may be further configured to select a timing synchronization signal transmission rate. The one or more terminals may be further configured to broadcast the timing synchronization signal at the timing offset and at the timing synchronization signal transmission rate.

    • A wireless communication system includes: a destination device; a source device configured to support D2D communication; and a plurality of terminal devices configured to respectively support D2D communication. The source device transmits a discovery signal to the plurality of terminal devices. Each terminal device calculates a priority value according to a received power of the discovery signal, a received power of a reference signal transmitted from the destination device, a residual amount of its own battery, a number of adjacent D2D nodes or interference received from the adjacent D2D nodes or any combination thereof. Each terminal device transmits the priority value to the source device. The source device selects a terminal device that will relay data to be transmitted from the source device to the destination device from among the plurality of terminal devices in accordance with the priority value received from one or more terminal devices.
