    • PURPOSE:To securely feed gas to a gas receiving part by providing both an auxiliary gas supply and an auxiliary piping so that the auxiliary piping is connected to the primary piping at a prescribed acute angle, and on the auxiliary piping side directly before the connecting part, by forming a part where the inside diameter is constricted. CONSTITUTION:Since the pressure of a material gas in the supply part 1 is maintained lower than that in the receiving part 2, an auxiliary gas supply part 3 is provided for feeding the material gas to the receiving part. The auxiliary gas supply part 3 is provided with a cylinder in which an inert gas is filled in a high-pressure condition, and the inert gas is fed to the connecting part 6 of a piping 4 through an auxiliary piping 5. In the auxiliary piping 5, a constricted part 5a is formed directly before the connecting part 6, and the auxiliary piping 5 is connected to the piping 4 at a prescribed acute angle. Thus, in the piping 4, a negative pressure due to the injection of the above inert gas is caused directly before the connecting part 6, thereby the material gas on the supply part 1 side is securely fed to the receiving part 2.

    • PURPOSE:To give a rigidity to a fin and to fix strongly the fin to a pipe by crushing the side edge part of the position to become the outer peripheral part of the fin in case of winding the metallic tape on which a corrugation is formed to the pipe. CONSTITUTION:The continuous corrugation having an equal pitch is formed with pressing both faces of a metallic tape 2 by a corrugator 3. The start end part of the metallic tape 2 which passed through the corrugator 3 is fixed to a pipe 1 with its state of intersecting at right angles with the pipe axle and the metallic tape 2 is spirally wound with rotating the pipe 1. The side edge part of the position to become the outer peripheral part of a fin 6 is then flattened with crushing by a rolling device 5. The fin 6 is then fixed in the state of being passed to the pipe 1 by giving a rigidity to the fin 6 also by acting a compression force on the inner peripheral part thereof. The fin 6 therefore comes in close contact with the pipe 1 with its becoming in standing state automatically on being crushed of the outer peripheral part.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of installing a heater in an inert gas and enable uniform heating of soot by providing the heater composed of a specific material near the outer side of the soot installed in the central part in a furnace so as to afford a uniform heat distribution in the longitudinal direction in the furnace. CONSTITUTION:Vapor of a glass material is deposited on the periphery of a dummy rod 1 to produce a soot 2, which is then placed in the central part of a dehydration sintering furnace. A heater 4 composed of silicon carbide or a material having an oxide film formed on the silicon carbide or molybdenum disilicide or a material having an oxide film formed on the molybdenum disilicide is provided on the outside and near the side of the soot 2 so as to provide nearly a uniform heat distribution in the longitudinal direction in the furnace. Furthermore, a heat insulating material 5 is provided on the outside of the heater 4 to heat the soot with the heater 4, homogeneously dehydrate and sinter the soot 2. Thereby, the set temperature of the heater 4 can be decreased and dehydration sintering time can be shortened.

    • PURPOSE:To accurately supply coating material according to the wire drawing velocity of optical fiber by introducing both the raw liquid of coating material and a curing agent into the separately sealed vessels and exerting gas pressure to force-feed them to a two-layer die spot via the respective carrier pipes. CONSTITUTION:The raw liquid I of coating material is introduced into a sealed vessel 20 and a curing agent II is introduced into the other sealed vessel 21. Inert gas is supplied to the sealed vessels 20, 21 respectively via the feed pipes 22, 23 of gas pressure. The raw liquid I and the curing agent II are separately force-fed to a two-layer die spot 26 via the carrier pipes 24, 25 and thereafter discharged from the die spot 26. The bare wire of optical fiber which is wire- drawn and passed on the central axial line of the die spot 26 is applied with the raw liquid I and the curing agent II. When the gas pressure of the sealed vessels 20, 21 is changed according to the wire drawing velocity, the application volume of the coating material discharged from the die spot 26 accurately is obtained.
