摘要： It is intended to provide a process for producing a composition containing .beta.-1,4-mannobiose which can inhibit the fixation of salmonella in animal bodies and effectively discharge the salmonella therefrom; a feed additive comprising the composition containing .beta.-1,4-mannobiose; and a feed comprising the composition containing .beta.-1,4-mannobiose. Namely, a proce ss for producing a composition containing .beta.-1,4-mannobiose characterized b y comprising treating a natural material containing mannan with a mannan digesting enzyme and thus forming at least 10% by weight, based on the manna n before the digestion, of .beta.-1,4-mannobiose; a composition containing .beta.-1,4-mannobiose characterized by being obtained by treating a natural material containing mannan with a mannan digesting enzyme and containing at least 10% by weight, in terms of dry matter, of .beta.-1,4-mannobiose; a fee d additive comprising the composition containing .beta.-1,4-mannobiose; and a feed comprising the composition containing .beta.-1,4-mannobiose.

The present invention is intended to provide a method for producing the .beta.-1,4-mannobiose-containing composition wherein a mannan degrading enzyme is functioned to a mannan-containing natural material for producing at least 10% by weight of .beta.-1,4-mannobiose based on the mannan before the degradation, the .beta.-1,4-mannobiose-containing composition prepared through the function of a mannan degrading enzyme to a mannan-containing natural material, which contains at least 10% by weight of .beta.-1,4-mannobiose in terms of dry matter, a feed additive containing the .beta.-1,4-mannobiose-containing composition, and a feed blended with the .beta.-1,4-mannobiose-containing composition.

SOLUTION: The method for producing a β-1,4-mannobiose-containing composition comprises making a mannan-containing natural material react with mannan degrading enzyme for producing at least ≥10 wt.% of β-1,4-mannobiose based on the mannan before degradation. The β-1,4-mannobiose-containing composition is prepared by making a mannan-containing natural material react with mannan degrading enzyme, and contains at least ≥10 wt.% of β-1,4-mannobiose in terms of dry matter.
