    • PURPOSE:To enable a valve to be optionally switched to its operative and inoperative state through a control of the oil pressure, by mutually turnably fitting cams to a cam shaft and pressing the cam by the oil pressure to a tapered surface, provided in the cam shaft, so as to enable the cam to be connected with the cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:When cams 2, which drive intake and exhaust valves 8, are detached from tapered surfaces 6 of a cam shaft 1 by springs 7, the cam 2 is not rotated in no relation to turning of the cam shaft 1, and the intake and exhaust valves 8 are not operated opening and closing. While a pressure oil chamber 5 is formed in a side surface of the cam 2, and when pressure oil is supplied from an oil hole 9, the pressure oil in the pressure oil chamber 5 firmly connects the cam shaft 1 with the cam 2 by pressing it a side of the tapered surface 6 of the cam shaft 1 against the spring 7. In this way, the cam 2 also rotates together with rotation of the cam shaft 1, and the intake and exhaust valves 8 can be opened and closed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle driving support apparatus which makes collision preventing control function effectively while respecting the will of a driver.SOLUTION: When detecting the step-in of a driver on a brake pedal during brake control, the traveling control unit 5 determines that the driver is highly aware of a possibility of a collision between his/her own vehicle 1 and a control subject, thus suspending the brake control. This prevents unnecessary intervention by brake control that is against the driver's will. When an extent of the driver's step-in on the brake pedal changes toward a release side at a rate equal to or higher than a set rate in a status that the possibility of the collision against the control subject is high, the suspended brake control is resumed. In this manner, collision preventing control is made to function effectively.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device which enables a driver to easily comprehend a recognition state of a vehicle system which recognizes running circumstances based on a stereo image.SOLUTION: A controller of a stereo camera unit is provided with a recognition state evaluation part 23a and an evaluation result display control part 23b. The recognition state evaluation part 23a evaluates recognition sensitivity and recognition reliability of running circumstances based on output from an image processing engine to calculate three-dimensional distance information from a picked-up image of the stereo camera and output from a recognition controller to perform object recognition processing. The evaluation results of the recognition sensitivity and the recognition reliability by the recognition state evaluation part 23a is sent to the evaluation result display control part 23b, so as to be statistically processed for every predetermined number of frames or for every predetermined time for conversion to visual information, which is output to a display. A driver is thereby capable of easily comprehending the recognition state of the running circumstances by a vehicle system.
