摘要： 3809. Forbes, T. S. Feb. 18. Compound fabrics.-A floor covering is made from tile-shaped pieces of vulcanized india-rubber bearing division lines B, Fig. 1, which are formed on the sheets before vulcanization so as to resemble ceramic or mosaic tiling. Recesses are formed in the sheet for the reception of small coloured tiles C. The sheets are attached by solution or by final vulcanization to a backing of canvas or felt S , Fig. 3, which has previously been coated with rubber by calendering. The compound sheet is fastened to the floor by nails N, Fig. 4, driven through the backing in the recesses left for the tiles C, the latter being secured by solution ; or the nails may be embedded in the tile as in Fig. 3. When the rubber tiles are laid upon cement floors which have not fully set, split nails are used, as in Fig. 5, or the under surfaces are formed with dovetailed grooves which are filled with cement, or the backing may consist of strips of rubber or canvas R, Fig. 6. Borders round a central pattern or round the edges are formed during rolling, or the tiles are attached to the backing, so as to leave the spaces bare, the floor covering being nailed down by these before they are filled in with tiles or bordering.

In examples, a 1 : 1 : 1-diaminodicyclohexyl methane, caprolactam and hexamethylenediamine adipate polymer is so sensitized using 50% or more of acetone in the solution, and the preparation therefrom of (1) letterpress, (2) gravure printing plates and (3) sound tracks by exposure and development is indicated. Other polyamides for the purpose are listed and Specification 769,441 is referred to.
