    • A method of and an apparatus for determining a core-less machining shape, in which an attribute of core-less machining or contour machining is automatically designated to a machining shape created in advance, and a storage medium storing a core-less machining shape determining program. Programs for judging a size of a machining shape based on horizontal and vertical maximum dimensions, a diameter or a radius of a circle, a peripheral length, a width and an area are stored in an automatic programming device in advance. Programs to be executed are selected from the stored programs and a way of logical operation on results of judgment by the selected programs is designated. The selected programs are executed based on data of a machining shape and reference values for judgment, and the selected logical operation is performed on the results of the judgment by the selected programs to determine the size of the machining shape, and an attribute of the core-less machining or the contour machining is automatically designated to the machining shape.

Date Jun. 20, 1985.The present invention relates to an area cutting method for cutting an area (AR) delimited by a curve (OLC) of an external shape and a plurality of closed curves (INC1, INC2) using a unidirectional cutting method or a back-and-forth cutting method. The area cutting method has a step of calculating first and second offset curves (INF1, INF2) obtained by outwardly offsetting respective closed curves by an amount dependent upon tool diameter, a step of calculating points of intersection (Ri-Ui) between each of the offset curves and an i-th cutting path (PTi), a step of moving a tool (TL), while the tool performs cutting, along the cutting path from a machining starting point (Pi) on the i-th cutting path (PTi), to a first point of intersection (Ri), of the two points of intersection (Ri, Si) between the cutting path and the first offset curve (INF1), a step, executed in a case where a second point of intersection (Ri) between the first offset curve and the cutting path lies inside the second offset curve (INF2), of moving the tool, without the tool performing cutting, from the first point of intersection (Ri) to that point of intersection (Ui) of two points of intersection (Ti, Ui) between the second offset curve and the cutting path which does not lie inside the first offset curve, and a step of moving the tool, while the tool performs cutting, along the cutting path up to a machining end point (Qi).
