    • An improved coin slide is disclosed which incorporates a transverse stop bar formed in the bottom of the slide. The stop bar is positioned to overlie the lever checking mechanism when the slide is moved to its rearward vending position whereby in the event of a broken lever, the lever will be automatically spring biased into contact with the stop bar to prevent forward movement of the slide. Additionally, the slide is provided with a pair of transversely spaced hold down pads which are positioned on the slide top surface to contact with bridge trailing surface for slide stabilization precisely when the bridge is performing its coin checking function.

    • A coin slide with attracting magnets is disclosed which incorporates a coin slide body with integral mounting flange, a keeper secured rearwardly of the mounting flange to position a plurality of magnets in vertical, side-by-side relationship, the magnets defining coin checking paths therebetween, a bridge secured to the body rearwardly of the mounting flange whereby the forward edge of the bridge and the rearward surface of the mounting flange define a clearance space therebetween, the magnets being positioned in the clearance space to detect any ferrous slugs as they pass through the magnet defined coin checking paths, the magnets lifting the slug sufficiently to cause the slug to jam against the forward edge of the bridge and not to pass through the bridge.

    • A guard for the mounting flange of a vertical type coin slide includes a hardened steel face and a rearwardly extending, integral, peripheral flange. The face of the guard includes a shaped opening to receive the slide of the coin slide therethrough. The opening includes a plurality of transversely spaced slots with a respective plurality of protective fingers therebetween. The protective fingers overfit and protect the softer metal dividers of the mounting flange to prevent breakage. A plurality of slotless mounting bolts secure the guard to the coin slide mounting flange in a manner wherein all exposed bolt parts are protected from tampering.

    • An improved coin slide of the type that includes a sturdy body having a medial mounting flange and a slide movable relative to the body between a coin receiving position and a vending position is disclosed. The slide is provided with a plurality of transversely arranged core receiving openings to receive therein interchangeable functional and non-functional cores in a manner to permit easy change of the vending price. A lever checking mechanism is secured in the body forwardly of the flange and includes coin checking levers in pivotal arrangement in longitudinal alignment with the cores. A coin stripper including a coin stop and a spring arm which biases between the body and the coin stop is secured below the lever checking mechanism. The spring arm biases the coin stop upwardly immediately forwardly of the levers to prevent rearward withdrawal of the coins after the slide has been moved to the vending position. In a preferred embodiment, a coin stripper plate is secured below the levers to discourage unauthorized pivoting of the levers.

    • A coin acceptor produces an output or operates a switch or vending mechanism when a coin acceptor slide reaches a certain point of advance relative to a housing. The slide receives coins or tokens tendered by a customer (“coins”) and carries the coins into a discriminator responsive to size, shape or the like. The discriminator can have feeler levers, a limited passage size or similar features that permit the slide to advance if all the correct coins are present, or obstruct movement of the slide if coins are missing or are the wrong type. The discriminator is breakable with sufficient force, which could break away the feeler levers or other test structures the obstruct movement unless the correct coins are in place, which would permit the slide to be operated repeatedly without the correct coins. According to an inventive aspect, a latch mechanism engages if the slide is forced beyond its normal operating span, for example because it is forced, and locks the slide in an advanced position where it remains until serviced. The limit of the normal operating span can be defined by a frangible abutment that breaks away under moderate force. In any event, the slide locks in an advanced position and cannot be operated repeatedly without the correct coinage.
