    • An airbag apparatus for a vehicle, may include an integrated vent formed in an airbag cushion, a tube provided on the airbag cushion and communicating with the integrated vent, wherein an inner diameter of the tube varies while gas may be discharged through the tube, so that a rate at which gas may be discharged from the airbag cushion may be adjusted according to a point of time of deployment of the airbag cushion, and a tether wrapped around the tube, the tether being connected to inner surface of the airbag cushion such that opposite ends of the tether may be pulled away from each other when the airbag cushion deploys, so that in a predetermined time period of the deployment of the airbag cushion, the tether contracts the tube, and after the predetermined time period, the tether snaps, thus releasing the tube.

    • An apparatus for classifying a vehicle occupant to determine whether to deploy an airbag is disclosed. The classification apparatus includes a sensor which is installed in a seat of a vehicle and is supplied with AC power, the sensor having a sensing conductor and a guard conductor electrically connected to each other, with an insulator interposed therebetween. A controller compares an imaginary current value, attributable to variation in capacitance of the sensor, measured on an output side of the sensor, and a real current value, attributable to variation in resistance of the sensor, with preset threshold values, thus classifying an occupant who is sitting in the seat. According to the classification apparatus, even if moisture permeates into a seat, an occupant can be precisely classified using the real current value and the imaginary current value.

    • A vehicle airbag system may include an inflator supplying a gas to an airbag cushion, an airbag housing coupled with the inflator and having a housing vent hole to discharge a part of the gas supplied from the inflator, a retainer mounted in the airbag housing and coupled to the inflator, wherein the airbag cushion covers an opening of the retainer to supply the gas in the airbag cushion, the retainer including a guide hole and a retainer vent hole, and a tether connected to the airbag cushion at a first end portion thereof and fixed to the airbag housing at a second end portion thereof by passing through the guide hole of the retainer, wherein the tether includes a communication portion at the second portion thereof to form a hole therein so as to selectively permit an gas commutation between the airbag cushion and the outside through the retainer vent hole, the housing vent hole, and the hole of the communication portion.
