摘要： A surgical instrument for supplying energy to tissue may comprise a handle, a trigger, an electrical input, and a shaft extending from the handle. The surgical instrument may comprise and end effector first and second tissue engaging surfaces that are slanted with respect to a transection plane. The end effector may, for example, have an electrode defining a V-shaped cross sectional profile. The end effector may comprise a plurality of raised surfaces that are received by a plurality of indentions when the end effector is in the closed position. 摘要： The body of a pressure sensing component includes a pressure sensor, a first opening, and a first pair of electrical contacts. A cap of the pressure sensing component comprises a second opening, a wiper seal, and a second pair of electrical contacts. The cap is rotatable relative to the body. When the cap is in a first rotational position, the first and second openings are in fluid communication with each other; and the first pair of contacts are not coupled with the second pair of contacts. When the cap is in a second rotational position, the seal isolates the first opening from the second opening; and the first pair of contacts are coupled with the second pair of contacts. The pressure sensing component may be coupled with a syringe and needle to externally adjust and monitor the pressure of fluid in an implanted gastric band system.

摘要： A surgical stapler comprises an anvil assembly, an anvil shaft, a driver, an actuating arm, a safety switch, and a safety feature. The anvil assembly couples with the anvil shaft. The driver drives a plurality of staples into tissue. The safety switch is moveable between a locked and an unlocked position. The safety switch prevents operation of the actuating arm when the safety switch is in the locked position. More particularly, the devices and methods of the present invention can be used to create multiple tissue folds on an anterior and posterior wall of a stomach cavity to reduce the volume thereof. In one aspect, a tissue acquisition and fixation system is described that includes a staple applying assembly having first and second jaws, and a tissue acquisition member that extends substantially parallel to a plane running through the first and second jaws. The tissue acquisition member is effective to engage and position tissue between the first and second jaws, and the jaws are effective to apply at least one staple to the tissue engaged therebetween.
