SOLUTION: The deployable cutting element assembly includes: an electrically insulated shaft defining an internal channel extending at least partially therethrough, the shaft including a distal portion and a proximal portion; and an electrically conductive wire including a proximal portion extending through the internal channel and a distal portion disposed external of the internal channel, wherein the distal portion of the wire is fixedly connected to the distal portion of the shaft such that the distal portion of the wire forms a cutting tip when the wire is advanced in a distal direction through the internal channel.
