    • A bone screw driver (12) for inserting a bone screw (14) into a bone region (218A) includes a driver shaft (12B) that selectively engages the bone screw (14). The bone screw (14) includes a screw threaded region (14A) and a screw engagement region (14B). The screw engagement region (14B) includes a screw shaft (14D) and an engager ring (14E). The driver shaft (12B) includes a shaft aperture (322), a first resilient member (324A), and a first shaft projection (326A). The shaft aperture (322) receives at least a portion of the screw shaft (14D), the first resilient member (324A) engages the screw shaft (14D) to inhibit movement of the screw shaft (14D), and the first shaft projection (326A) engages the engager ring (14E) so that rotation of the driver shaft (12B) results in rotation of the bone screw (14). With this design, in certain embodiments, the bone screw (14) can be removed with the bone screw driver (12) from a screw retainer (16) that retains the bone screw (14), and inserted into the bone region (218A) without the physician contacting with the bone screw (14). This reduces the likelihood of contaminating the bone screw (14) and increases the likelihood of success for the procedure.

    • A continuous passive motion device for achieving full extension of the leg of a patient includes a base and a four-bar articulated limb support member which is mounted for movement on the base. For the articulated limb support member one bar is a femoral support member which is pivotally mounted on the base. Another one of the bars is a tibial support member which is pivotally joined to the femoral support member. Also included in the device is a drive bar which has a first end reciprocally mounted on the base of the device and a second end which is pivotally attached to the femoral support member. A cross bar having a first end pivotally attached to the tibial support member and having a second end pivotally attached to the drive bar interconnects the tibial support member and the drive bar. The device further includes a motor which is connected to the device for reciprocating the first end of the drive bar to alter the configuration of the device for exercising the leg. A method is disclosed for passively exercising the leg of a patient, using the above described device.

    • A subtalar implant device includes a rounded end cap region, a threaded region having threads, and a core having a first end, a second end, a core exterior and a longitudinal axis. The threads can have a shape that varies between the first end and the second end of the core. For example, the threads can include an outer edge having an edge width that varies. Further, the threads can include a thread depth that can vary between the first end and the second end of the core. A thread radius of curvature varies at a different rate than a core radius of curvature. The core can define one or more core apertures that extend through the core at various angles relative to the longitudinal axis. In one embodiment, two core apertures are positioned at an angle greater than zero degrees relative to each other.
