摘要： Methods, systems, and apparatus for improved dispatching of sheetsides in a high-speed (e.g., continuous form) printing environment using multiple, clustered processors in a print controller. Features and aspects hereof utilize a stochastic mathematical model of multiple processors (compute nodes) each adapted to RIP (rasterize) raw sheetside data provided to it. The model utilizes stochastic estimates of the probability of RIP execution time to select a preferred processor of the controller and dispatches the sheetside to the preferred compute node identified as providing best probability of meeting required deadlines for RIP completion time of a raw sheetside.

摘要： A printer output coverage estimation system permits a user of print services to obtain an accurate estimate of the amount of toner required by a print job. Providers of print services, including coverage estimations, may be identified through the Internet and selected by the user from a web interface. The estimate request may then be transmitted directly to the provider that fulfills the request using excess computing capacity. Alternatively, providers may register excess computing capacity with a broker. The broker matches job requests with a grid of providers and directs the job request to the matched provider(s). Thus, users of print services have an alternative to purchasing in-house computing resources that may remain idle much of the time.

摘要： A method, computer program product and system for detecting and compensating for color misregistration. A black/white edge or a solid color edge on a target may be scanned. A black/white edge may refer to a black image, e.g., black text, on a white surrounding background having a rapid spatial transition from black to white. A solid color edge may refer to a solid color image, e.g., solid color text, on a white surrounding background having a rapid spatial transition from color to white. A curve of gray values versus spatial pixel positions for each color channel, e.g., red, green and blue color channels, may be generated. A misregistration error may then be calculated by calculating the offset between the color channel curves. The misregistration error may then be used to calibrate the scanner to compensate for the detected color misregistration.
