    • In a fuel control system for an internal combustion engine comprising a sensing vane swingably disposed in an intake pipe of the engine and adapted to be angularly displaced in proportion to the flow rate of the intake air and a fuel control device in response to the angular displacement of said sensing vane for controlling the rate of fuel to be supplied to the engine in proportion to the flow rate of the intake air, a plurality of pressure-responsive actuators are operatively connected to said sensing vane and adapted to actuate in response to vacuum or air-pressure signals representative of the conditions of the engine such as acceleration and deceleration, the temperature of the engine and the ambient air pressure, respectively, to control the angular displacement of said sensing vane so as to change the ratio of the rate of fuel to be supplied to the engine to the flow rate of the intake air, whereby the air-fuel ratio is optimized according to engine conditions.

    • A supercharged internal combustion engine is provided with a turbo supercharger mounted on an intake pipe and driven by engine exhaust gases to produce a pressurized intake air to be fed into the engine. A bypass intake pipe branches out of the intake pipe upstream of the supercharger and merges into the intake pipe at a point downstream of the supercharger. A first valve member is disposed in the intake pipe adjacent to the merging point to control the communication between the intake pipe and the bypass intake pipe and the communication between the upstream part of the intake pipe and the downstream part of the intake pipe. A first and second air release ports are formed in the intake pipe, one of which is disposed between the supercharger and the merging point and the other is disposed downstream of the merging point. Second and third valve members are provided to open and close the first and second air release ports, respectively. The first and second valve members are pneumatically actuated in accordance with the variation in the engine intake manifold pressure, whereas the third valve member is moved to its open position when the pressure in the intake pipe downstream of the merging point exceeds a predetermined level.

    • A fuel control system for a multicylinder internal combustion engine, wherein the fuel is metered by a fuel metering device having one fuel metering orifice whose degree of opening is variable depending upon the quantity of intake air and a differential pressure regulating valve for maintaining the differential pressure across the fuel metering orifice at a predetermined magnitude, and a distributor has a plurality of distribution valves equal in number to the cylinders of the engine, each distribution valve being hydraulically communicated with the fuel metering device, and a plurality of pressure equalizing valves also equal in number to the cylinders, each pressure equalizing valve being communicated with each distribution valve. The whole quantity of fuel to be supplied to the respective cylinders is precisely metered by the fuel metering device in proportion to the quantity of intake air, and the metered fuel is uniformly distributed among the fuel injection nozzles by the distributor.

    • A supercharged internal combustion engine has a turbo supercharger mounted on an exhaust pipe so that a turbine of the supercharger is driven by engine exhaust gases to drive a blower for the compression of engine intake air. A bypass exhaust pipe is connected to the exhaust pipe at a point upstream of the supercharger and extends in bypassing relationship to the supercharger. A valve is provided in the exhaust system at the above-mentioned point to control the exhaust gas flow into and through the exhaust pipe and the bypass exhaust pipe, respectively. A valve actuator is responsive to variation in the intake pressure in the engine intake system downstream of a throttle valve to actuate the valve such that, when the intake pressure is not greater than a first predetermined value, the valve is actuated to fully close the exhaust pipe and, when the intake pressure becomes greater than a second predetermined value, the valve is actuated to fully close the bypass pipe, whereby the supercharger is operated only in a throttle full-open engine operating range and the supercharging air pressure is kept below a predetermined pressure level to prevent not only the supercharger but also the engine intake and exhaust systems from being continuously subjected to loads.
