    • A method for manufacturing a one-way clutch cage allows slits of the cage to be formed with a short punching distance, wherein the slits are narrow in width and the cage is less prone to deformation. In this method for manufacturing a one-way clutch cage, after slits 8, 10, 11, 12 have been formed, windows 17 are formed and then an outer annular part 18 is cut. Therefore, since the slits can be formed in a cylindrical member 2 that has not yet been subjected to the window formation process of the outer annular part cut-out process, and that is sufficiently strong, a radially diagonal punching operation can be performed to form the slits. During this radially diagonal punching operation, a boundary portion between a cylindrical portion 3 and an outer flange 5 is punched out from an inside of the cylindrical member toward an outside of the cylindrical member. Thus, the punching distance can be shortened, the punching die can be thinned in thickness and the slit width can be reduced, as compared with horizontal punching.

    • A one-way clutch comprises a first ring, a second ring spaced from the first ring to define an annular space therebetween, engaging members disposed in the annular space, at least one holding member for holding the engaging members, and a biasing member for biasing the engaging members in one direction. A pair of annular retaining members are disposed on opposite sides of the first and second rings to close the annular space between the first and second rings. Each annular retaining member has an inner surface provided with first and second stepped portions at first and second inner peripheral end surfaces thereof, respectively. The first stepped portion of each of the annular retaining members receives an end of the first ring, and the second stepped portion of each of the annular retaining members receives an end of the second ring. At least one of the annular retaining members has an annular recess at the inner surface thereof for receiving an end of the holding member.

    • A one-way clutch according to the present invention comprises an outer race fitted in a housing member, an inner race, a plurality of engaging members arranged between the outer race and the inner race, a cage for holding the engaging members, a spring for biasing each of the engaging member in one direction, annular members arranged on the opposite sides of the outer race so as to close a space between the inner and outer races, said inner race being formed of metal, one of said annular members being formed of synthetic resin, and an integral molding means for integrally forming the inner race and the annular member.     • In a one-way clutch, a plurality of sprags held by a retainer in a swingable manner and forced by a spring in one direction are interposed between an inner ring and an outer ring. A pair of end bearings are slidably fit to the outer ring on both sides of the retainer between the inner and outer rings. A pair of annular retainer plates each having a plurality of pawls around an outer periphery are provided so that the annular retainer plates support the end bearings in opposite axial directions when fastened to the outer ring by the pawls. An annular recessed portion is concentrically formed on an annular part of each annular retainer plate. When the retainer plates are mounted in position, the annular recessed portion of one of the retainer plates is opposite both a radially inside part of one end face of the outer ring and a radially outside part of a corresponding end face of one of the end bearings, and the annular recessed portion of the other retainer plate is opposite both a radially inside part of the other end face of the outer ring and a radially outside part of a corresponding end face of the other end bearing.
