    • Stationary contact, terminal and arc-runner structure for a high-current double-break electrical contactor that affords longer contact life. Each stationary contact (66,80) and turn-back arc-runner (68,82) is connected to the associated terminal (52,72). Each arc-runner (68,82) is V-shaped and has a slot (68e,82e) at its turn-back or bight portion (68b,82b) through which the associated stationary contact (66,80) extends so that its contact tip (66b,80b) is thereabove for engagement by the bridging contact (36). The stationary contacts (66,80) allow substantially straight-through current flow, no turn-back current loop, when the contacts (66,36,80) are closed under normal current conditions to retain maximum contact pressure. But at the moment of the contact opening under high overload current conditions, the arcs migrate toward the sides between the arc-runners (68c,82c) and the outer ends of the bridging contact (36) so that a turn-back condition occurs in the current flow path inducing heavy magnetic blowout forces on the respective arcs outwardly and upwardly toward the splitter plates (88,90 ) to efficiently extinguish the arcs.

    • A mechanical interlock (6) for coupling a pair of contactors (2, 4) to prevent concurrent closure thereof. The interlock includes a generally T-shaped one-piece molded frame (16) having a pair of mounting hooks (16a, 16b) at one side at the ends of its arms for coupling to false-front upper corners (2c, 2d) of a first contactor (2) and another pair of mounting hooks (16c, 16d) at the other side at the ends of its arms for similarly coupling to the other contactor (4). Snap-in lugs (16e, 16f) snap into a rectangular aperture (2b) in the contactor wall to retain the interlock in place. A rockable, spring-biased interlock pawl (18) snap-in mounted within the frame has projecting wings (18e, 18f) that extend into the contactor aperture (2b) below a contact carrier projection (8a) so that downward actuation of the contact carrier of one contactor rocks the pawl so as to compress its bias, return spring (20) and cause a toe (18d) at the lower end of the pawl to slide down one side of a double-incline bump (16k) into a pocket at the bottom of the frame thereby preventing depression of the other wing of the pawl by the other contactor and prevent closure of the other contactor at the same time.

    • In a joystick controller for electric switches, a resilient bias is provided, biasing the joystick to its neutral position, by means of a garter spring which encircles and embraces two ring members, one ring member being displaced in its own plane in response to pivoting the joystick about its pivot and the other ring member being secured to a fixed housing part. The two ring members are profiled so that the garter spring rides from them upon pivoting the joystick through greater than a threshold angle from its neutral position, so that the bias is removed and the joystick stays put.
