    • An extruder for extruding extrudate is provided and includes a generally cylindrical barrel portion having an end face. A screw conveyor is rotatably arranged coaxially within the barrel portion and has a downstream end. The screw conveyor has helical flights that define a first flow path with the barrel for the extrudate. The first flow path has a first cross-sectional area. An adapter is arranged on the end face of the barrel portion and defines an exit portion of the extruder. A screw tip is secured to the downstream end of the screw conveyor and extends into the adapter. The screw tip and the adapter define a second flow path for the extrudate with a second cross-section area being at least as large as the first cross-sectional area.

    • A tamper deterrent assembly which is molded of plastic material and includes a body member with an enclosed locking space having an open end. The open end is closed by a closure member mounted on the body member and movable toward a closed end of the locking space. The closure member is normally retained on the body member in a first position and may be moved to a locking position where a strip engaging unit carried by the closure member is received and locked by a locking unit. The locking unit may be carried by an elongated locking strip which is inserted into the locking chamber through a strip receiving slot in the body, or the strip engaging unit may pass through the locking strip and engage a locking unit carried on an end wall of the body.

    • The tamper proof anchor bolt assembly includes a frangible nut assembly and a tamper resistant skirt attached to one end of an expandable anchor bolt device. An expandable anchoring means attached to the other end of the anchoring device expands to create a secure connection between the anchor bolt and a supporting structure in response to the application of torque to the frangible nut assembly. The frangible nut assembly includes a frangible connection which ruptures at a predetermined torque corresponding to the secure connection. The tamper resistant skirt is rotatably positioned around the entire periphery of the remaining frangible nut assembly to prevent a tool from upsetting the secure connection by applying a gripping force to the anchor bolt device.

    • A bone penetrating pin for medical use includes, in one embodiment, a shank provided at one end with a bone penetrating element of titanium or single crystal alumina ceramic material, and a driving head at the other end. A removable cap is applied to the driving end, the cap including upper and lower cylindrical portions of substantially identical diameters interconnected by an intermediate portion of substantially smaller diameter. The upper portion is formed with oppositely extending arms for application of torque through the cap to the shank and bone penetrating element. The intermediate portion of the cap is designed to fail in shear upon the application of torque in excess of a predetermined maximum; that is, it provides a torque limiting function. In another embodiment, the torque applying and limiting means are in the form of a tool assembly comprising a shank engageable with one end of a bone penetrating pin, and a cap slidable with respect to the shank, wherein a torque limiting insert is receivable between the cap and the shank to drivingly couple the two. More specifically, the tool of this second embodiment includes an elongated shank provided with a pin fastener engaging tip at one end and a first socket formed at the other end. A torque applying device is slidably mounted with respect to the shank, and includes a second socket substanially aligned with the first socket. A torque limiting insert is receivable within the first and second sockets to couple the torque applying device and the pin engaging shank.
